Healing Pool

Harold had travelled halfway around the world to remote a remote part of China based on rumors of a magical healing pool that could cure any disease. Considering he had an inoperable brain tumor, he figured superstition was his only hope at this point. Worse case scenario, he figured he would at least visit China before he died. When he arrived the villagers in the closest town warned him not to go--that no man dared to travel to the pool. He dismissed such rumors, and they reluctantly gave him directions. After taking a dip in the pool, he learned why no man ever dove in--he was transformed into a young Chinese woman! At this point, he could only hope that it cured his cancer as well. He had risked everything...quite literally.

The Transplant

“Please stop pouting, Tim,” Harold explained calmly to his son, “You knew this day would come eventually. After that terrible car accident, the only way the doctors could save your life was to put your brain into your mom’s body. We all knew it would be hard for you to adapt, but you knew you’d eventually have to start acting like her, and that includes going to her job.”

“I know,” Tim sulked, “But I also don’t forget who was driving, Dad! I still blame you for being stuck like this, and I still blame you for losing mom! I also blame those stupid doctors for doing this to me! I still don’t get why I can’t just tell everyone who I really am!”

“We all signed confidentiality agreements. The doctors procedure that saved your life was experimental and likely illegal. If you tell everyone, then who knows what kind of trouble everyone will get in; including us! I know it’s hard, but I’m thankful my son is alive. And I hope you are too...”

Immediate Service

For most people, it happened shortly after the plane landed on Exchange Island. In fact, Anthony could clearly observe just about everyone on his plane reacting to the their new bodies. However, Anthony was still, well, Anthony. He went to the hotel and a woman with a red dress greeted him just inside the door. She told him bags would be taken to his room and to let her know if he needed anything.

He wasn’t going to say anything, but he felt the need to. The whole point of Exchange Island was to swap bodies with someone, and he hadn’t done that!

The woman told him not to worry. She’d check on it right away. She searched Anthony’s name on the iPad she held and informed him that his plane had an odd number of people on it. These things did happen from time to time and that he shouldn’t worry. He’d be swapping with another person any moment now.

Anthony was about to press for more when he realized the iPad now in his hand and the red dress he now wore. The woman now in his body asked, “I hope this is to your liking. We do aim to please our guests with immediate service.” Anthony just smiled before he handed the iPad to his former body.

Youthful

As an 80-year-old man, Al didn’t know much about youthful fashion trends, but when the Great Shift stuck him in the body of a 20-year-old woman, he had to learn quickly. He asked his granddaughter for advice and to borrow some clothes. Just about everything she gave him made him feel ridiculous. He looked down at the faux leather outfit she loaned him, and couldn’t help but feel like the skirt was way too short and the whole thing revealed far too much skin. He couldn’t imagine she ever actually wore this thing out! In fact, she didn’t. Much like many women her age, she was quite prone to buying clothes that seemed cool at the time, but she never had any intention of wearing. She saw the Great Shift and her grandfather’s swap as a good way to unload some stuff and clean out her closet. Plus, she saw it as a bit of a charity; he thought of it as a bit of a curse.

Compromise

In the massive worldwide body swapping phenomenon that would come to be called “The Great Shift,” it was fairly common for a husband and wife to swap bodies with each other. In fact, in the small town of Clarksville, such a couple swapping bodies occurred almost universally. The guys now in their wives’ bodies wanted to continue on as normally as they could. On Sunday afternoon, this meant enjoying a football game and drinking some beers. The women, on the other hand, insisted that the husbands keep their former body in good shape -- and that included attending their regularly scheduled yoga class on Sunday afternoon. Fortunately, the couples were able to reach a compromise. The yoga class still went on as planned, but the guys were allowed to drink beer during it, and they set up a TV in the front in order to make sure they wouldn’t miss a moment of the game...

Get Back to Work

Mike sighed as he got dressed for work this morning in his overalls. It was slated to be his first day back on the construction site in a little more than three weeks. After the Great Shift, the union had negotiated pretty good with management about an extended period of paid time off and also ensured everyone got to keep their jobs no matter what body they ended up with. Mike was pretty sure he could handle his old job despite his new body, he just wasn’t sure he could handle his co-workers.

When the Shift hit, he instantly went from installing some rivets into a steel beam to sitting behind a computer screen in an office wearing a short skirt. He rushed to the bathroom to see the face of a woman looking back at him. It took him a minute, but he recognized her. She had walked by the site for about a week a few days ago. Everyone on the job hooted and hollered at her, making rude comments or catcalls. She must have found a different route to walk shortly after that, as Mike didn’t remember seeing her for at least a few days. Still, looking out the window, her office was pretty close to where they were all working.

Now that body was his, and he was going to have to face all the guys he worked with. He was prepared for a long day of hearing the same sorts of comments everyone dished out when a pretty woman passed. He was, after all, a pretty woman now, but he really wasn’t sure he was prepared to deal with that...

One Step at a Time

“One step at a time...one step at a time...” Ronald muttered to himself as he continued to walk. The heels on his feet proved to be quite difficult to walk in, but he didn’t have much choice since the Great Shift swapped him into this body. Fortunately, he checked the purse in his hands and found identification that had an address that wasn’t too far away. Each step was more of a challenge than he would have liked, but if he could just get to this woman’s house, he could just sit down and take this boots off! He’d be happy to escape the chaos out in the streets as well. With everyone swapped into the body of someone else, it was pure madness out here. Of course, Ronald would probably be freaking out himself about his new female body, but he had to put so much focus on just not falling down in these high heels that he hadn’t had too much time to really think about it...

An Education

As Aaron looked in the mirror to tie the long hair back into a ponytail, he felt like he was starting back at square one. For the past decade he had studied hard in undergrad and graduate school, then there was the endless search until he finally scored a teaching position at a local college. Then just as spoke the first word in front of his first class, he found himself sitting in the hall hearing his voice recite the lecture he had prepared.

For some inexplicable reason, he was now inside the body of one of his freshman students, a young woman. He decided it best not to panic as everyone else was acting completely normally -- including his own body.

After class, he went to the nearest bathroom, reminding himself he now had to use the woman’s room. It was hard not to contemplate what his new life would be like. He’d be going through the motions all over again, but as someone else this time. He didn’t even know much about the woman he now was. He hadn’t learned any of his students’ names; he’d barely even reviewed the class list!

Short Trip

After a long first week at his job at the firm fresh out of college, Jim decided to take a taxi home. He was shocked upon leaving to swap bodies with the driver. He wanted to yell, fight, or scream, but instead he just drove away. He didn’t really know what else to do except pick up another passenger and pretend everything was normal. He tried to emulate everything he had seen other cabbies do, even wishing his passenger “Have a nice day” as his driver had done. Jim was even more shocked when he swapped bodies again, this time with the woman he had been driving around. He watched as the cab drove away again, presumably continuing the cycle.

Over the course of an hour, Jim had gone from being a cocky, young kid just out of college to a fat, smelly cab driver, and now he was a middle aged Asian woman. He was hoping to swap again soon -- this was exactly the life or gender he wanted -- however, he hadn’t yet figured out that the swaps had been caused by the magic taxi he had been in, and this body he was now in was his for good.

Waiting

Andy had been sitting on the roadside bench for at least an hour now. So far not a single vehicle had driven by. When he found himself in a different location in an entirely different body about an hour ago, his first thought was to try to touch base with some other people. There didn’t seem to be anyone around. He was in a large park of some sort with a few benches, a roadway, and a bridge in the distance. He thought his best bet was to wait for a potential ride.

As he waited, he took stock of his new body. It was obvious he was a woman now, but he didn’t seem to have a purse or anything in his pockets. He had little more than a mystery on his hands. The lack of cars made him worried. He began to think he wasn’t the only one in the wrong body, and maybe people were staying off the roads as they evaluated everything themselves. He wondered if he should just start walking.

Retail Therapy

Jason peaked into the store window. The antique shop he visited last year was long gone, replaced with a store that sold trendy trinkets. He was sad that the old shop was gone; it had, after all, quite literally changed his life. Before being gifted a curious item from the former shop’s owner, he was a quiet, boring guy. But the item literally transformed him into a woman. Suddenly, he was seemingly much more able to express himself. He dyed his hair, he bought cute clothes; he felt talkative and began to love to laugh.

Seeing the old place was gone seemed like a tragedy, but then he noticed a cute pair of shoes in the window of the new store and quickly lost his nostalgia. His feet would look so cute in those once he bought them!

Professional Setting

Greg stood awkwardly in the office. He wasn’t sure how he got here or why he was now in the body of a woman. For a brief instant, he hoped he wasn’t the only one who had swapped bodies with someone, but everyone around seemed to be acting normally enough so that didn’t seem likely. He was gong to have to figure things out. He had to find her desk or her office. He’d also have to figure out what her actual job was. Heck, he didn’t even know her name!

Before swapping into this body, he was just a slacker college student at the nearby university. He wasn’t ready to be thrust into the business world already. Maybe if he could just fake it for a bit, he’d swap back? But as the hours passed, he was coming to the realization that he just may be stuck like this.

Mischievious

About a month ago, Aaron had found the strange book among the shelves at his local store. Inside the pages were magic spells. He was skeptical at first until he tried one to see that it actually worked! He bought the book and brought it home.

What he didn’t know was the book itself had a curse, which would infect Aaron with a bit of mischievous chaos. In one of his bolder acts, he used a spell to swap bodies with his friend, Melinda.

After a few more chaotic spells, he decided the most mischievous thing he could do was quietly place the book back on the shelf for someone else to experiment.

After another few weeks passed, the curse would fade and Aaron would be horrified by the fact that he was forever swapped with Melinda. He’d return to the book store only to find the book had already been bought by someone else and was out there causing chaos for more people in the world.

Amnesia

“You hit your head pretty hard, Caitlyn, are you alright?” The voice asked.

The young woman turned her head and looked up toward the man who had just spoken, “Caitlyn? Is that my name? I don’t feel like a Caitlyn. In fact, I could’ve sworn I was a guy. I remember being a guy...sort of. I can’t seem to remember all too clearly. But I’m pretty sure my name isn’t Caitlyn...is it?”

The man laughed, “Do you want to look in a mirror and check your license?”

“I know it doesn’t make sense, but I’m pretty sure I am not who I appear to be; I’m just not sure who I really am either!”

Marching Band

Everyone at school was pretty shocked when Olivia joined the marching band. She was the most popular girl in class, why was she doing something so nerdy? What no one knew was that the night before, Olivia had swapped bodies with Eugene, one of the biggest nobodies in the school. The two had quickly agreed on some basic ground rules about what each could do with the other’s body, but they were both free to continue doing what they enjoyed. For Eugene, that meant being in the marching band. While it seemed everyone noticed odd behavior from who they thought was Olivia. No one paid attention to the changes Eugene’s body was enacting. In a few months, Eugene would destroy Olivia’s popularity despite her beauty. At the same time, Olivia would transform Eugene into one of the popular students.

Mixup

When Justin first arrived on Exchange Island, he was quite happy with the body he swapped with. As he settled into his room, he began to check it out. He swapped with a guy with six pack abs, big muscles, and a handsome face. He couldn’t complain at all. Then the phone in the room rang. He picked it up and the front desk was on the other end, explaining that there had been a mixup with the original swap and they were working to fix it now. Justin tried to interrupt to explain that he was happy with how it turned out, but he never got the chance. In another instant, he found himself on the beach in a very different body. He now had long hair and large breasts. He screamed. He nearly had an amazing body that he could use to pick up so many women; now he actually WAS a woman. He couldn’t believe it.

Smoke

Jack was pretty thankful when he found a cigarette inside the purse he was carrying. After the Great Shift swapped his body with a woman, he felt very stressed and needed one to calm down. If she had been a non-smoker, he would’ve felt terrible about doing this; then again, if she didn’t smoke, he had no idea where he’d be able to get a cigarette from right now anyway. After his smoke, he was a little calmer, or at least calm as one could be after finding themselves in a different body.

Behind the Wheel

Herbert hadn’t been behind the wheel in years, ever since his eyes had gone bad. Of course, thanks to the Great Shift, his eyes weren’t that bad anymore. In fact, his entire body was in perfect shape since he swapped bodies with that young woman. He was pretty excited about his second chance at life. There were so many things he hadn’t gotten to do the first time around that he knew he wasn’t going to waste his second chance at youth. And being able to drive again meant that he could get out in the world. Of course, despite his young, female body, there were still things about his that still screamed “old.” He was sure to wear clothes that covered his body. He often screamed at young people to get out of his way. And, of course, he really knew nothing about the “female” aspect of his new self...

Thought

For the past few hours Toby had been trying to wrap his head around how Lola stole his body--leaving him stuck in hers. But then he realized that was the wrong question; he needed to think more about how to get his body back! He couldn’t trick her into coming her. He’d have to use a friend, which means that he’d have to convince someone he knew who he really was. Then he’d ambush her and force her to give him his body back! But one step at a time. He needed to think--which one of his friends would even believe his story!

Trying

Ryan had stolen Julia’s body just a few hours ago. But if he was going to successfully steal her life and convince anyone that he was really her, he’d have to learn to walk in high heeled shoes. Julia rarely wore anything else. Ryan was trying really hard to get used to them, but so far was having no luck. He had to prop himself up just to keep from falling down. This was not going to be easy, but he was sure that after a few more tries he could get it right.

Joe not only had some stranger’s body, but he also had her keys, her wallet, and so on. He guessed that meant her car was in the parking lot somewhere. He pressed the alarm on the keychain, and quickly found it. He spied a woman using the ATM out of the corner of his eye. He thought about warning her and telling her about what happened to him. He knew that he would just come of sounding crazy. In a few seconds that woman would have his body anyway, and there was nothing he could really do about it, was there? As he got into the car and drove off, he saw his old body looking confused. He knew that he had just had that experience not seconds before. He felt some sympathy, but he just drove off, ready to start his new life.

Rented

“You’ve got to be kidding me! Not again!”

Seth screamed as he slouched down putting his hand on his hip. Two months ago he had signed up for a service that would pay him a hefty fee if he offered his body to be rented at any time for any length. The company told him that very few people rented them out and generally not for very long. No harm was allowed to be done to the rented body, and Seth would be in the renters body until the time was up. Very few people used the service, so it would be like getting a free paycheck for doing nothing. Seth was quick to sign, but his body got picked quickly. For the past two months, he had been inside the body of a middle aged, overweight housewife. Only five minutes after getting his body back, he was rented out again, causing his screams. But as he checked out his waifishly model-like body this time, he wanted to take back those words. He had lucked out, but he couldn’t imagine why a woman this hot would ever want to give up her body, or why she would want to live as him!

Ruined

Tony had snuck around the back of the wedding venue at the start of the reception to have a cigarette. He knew his sister would give him a hard time about smoking if he didn't do it discretely. She'd say he was ruining her wedding or something. All that worry faded away when he took a few puffs.

"Got one to spare?” One of his sister's bridesmaids asked.

He handed her one, and the two got to talking. Her name was Crystal; she knew Tony's sister from college. She was sneaking around trying to find a smoke for the same reason he was hiding seriously fearlful of his sister's wrath. They began to laugh and enjoy each other's company, but just as they were about to head back to the reception when a strange feeling washed over them both.

In the next instant, Tony could feel his clothes were much too restrictive. He looked down to see the pale pink bridesmaid dress covering his body that he now filled out quite nicely. Yet his hair was still short; he jaw still square with a little bit of stubble. He looked over. Crystal's head was now on his body!

They both rushed to the reception where things were even worse. It seemed just about every last guest was in the same situation Tony and Crystal were. Tony's sister was probably crying the most. Her head was atop their elderly grandmother's body. She was stuck in a wheelchair and absolutely panicking. She had been worried about her wedding being ruined by the absolutely smallest thing, but it seems it was actually ruined by the most hugest, craziest thing possible!

After taking out some cash from the ATM, Joe received a very strange message.

The screen read, “Would you like some change?”

Joe double-checked his cash, and made sure it was all there. He couldn’t imagine what sort of change it meant, but he selected “Yes” anyway. He soon found out EXACTLY what it meant. The machine quickly scanned his body, and then shot him with a strange beam. Joe soon found himself transformed into the last person who asked the machine for “change,” a beautiful young woman! His own body was placed in memory, ready to be given to the next ATM user who asked for change.

The Artifact

"What the hell did those women do to us, Indy?” Basil asked his adventuring companion.

"It was that artifact! Legend has it, that thing has the power to switch peoples bodies. If we don't get it back, we might be stuck in their shapely, feminine bodies forever!" Jones replied.

"Stuck? Like this? Forever?" Basil suddenly stopped running.

"What the hell are you doing? We gotta catch 'em.”

"Yeah, oh, sure. Sure. Why don't you go on ahead, eh? I'll wait here in case they decide to doubleback or something."

"Dammit, Basil. We're on a train! There's no way they're going to doubleback. Nevermind! I don't have time for this!"

Jason felt the smooth skin on his face. It was weird not having stubble. There were others differences to his body that were bothering him, but he didn’t feel so ready to explore them. In fact, he didn’t even want to think about them right now. But he knew he couldn’t hold his pee in forever, and he’d eventually have to worry about a monthly visitor as well. He pushed both thoughts out of his mind as he continued to feel his face. It was so smooth; it was so weird.

Pain

Barry awoke in the morning with an intense pain in his stomach. He could barely focus on anything else, and the fact that he was now in a different person’s body was barely even a secondary concern. In fact, he hadn’t even noticed he was now a woman for quite some time. He was more focused on the uncontrollable pain emitting from the center of his being. He tried calming it with all sorts of over the counter medicines he found in the bathroom, but nothing seemed to quell it in the slightest. It was an after effect of the swapping, as it turned out, but this is something he would never be the wiser of. And it was a feature, not a bug, as Zoe would be far away by the time he was able to focus on his new body instead of the pain. It would mean her plan was perfect.

Not Like This!

It wasn’t often that Mark brought a woman he randomly met at a bar one night back to his place, but he had a feeling that Tiffany was different. He connected with her in a way that he couldn’t imagine, so he was a little disappointed when he awoke the morning after their one night stand to find her gone. He wondered why she had run off...that is until he got to the bathroom and saw his reflection. It seems Tiffany didn’t run off; instead, at some point in the night they had fused into a single person. He screamed in shock as he saw his face on Tiffany’s otherwise gorgeous body. He pulled up on her pink shirt to reveal more of his body. He felt like some sort of freak. He wanted to get close to Tiffany, but not like this! Not like this at all!

Scent

Why do women smell so good? Particularly their hair? It was a question that Randall often asked himself. He would often take deep whiffs around his ex-girlfriends, and every single one of them had told him he was weird after he explained why he was doing it. Well, because of the Great Shift, he no longer had to depend on a girlfriend. He pulled a piece of hair, moved it in front of his nose, and inhaled deeply. He never got tired of it. He couldn’t believe how good his own hair smelled now that he was a woman. He still had no idea why any of his exes ever made him feel bad for enjoying this...

Vance woke up in the morning with the taste of stale booze and cigarettes in his mouth. He tried to think back to the night before, but it was all a blur. As he trudged along to the bathroom he felt something was off, but he couldn’t quite place his finger on it. Then as he caught his reflection in the mirror, his jaw dropped. Looking back at him from the mirror was a gorgeous woman. His mind was in a panic, but he quickly decided to his the streets to look for some answers. Digging through her wardrobe, his selection seemed quite limited. With little choice, he tied his long hair up, put on some leather pants, and headed out.

He didn’t make it very far until he stumbled across a wall plastered with the covers of fashion magazines. Sure enough, he recognized a face on one of them. It was the one that had looked back at him from the mirror this morning. It seemed he was not just a woman, he was a model -- one famous enough to be on the cover of a magazine at that! None of this seemed to make him feel much better, but at least he knew a little more about who he now was...
