Andrew had been nervous about signing up for the psychological study at first. He knew it entailed swapping bodies with another participant of the opposite gender and living their life for six months. However the start of the study was remarkably smooth. He swapped with a Asian woman named Hiromi. She was smart, young, and attractive. Settling into her life was a breeze. But as the days passed, Andrew noticed something weird. Women’s items just seemed to cost more than men’s. When he noticed his usual $20 haircut would now be more than twice as expensive, hat was the last straw. Instead, he bought a pair of scissors and looked at himself in the mirror. How hard could it be to cut his own hair? Plus, he’d save a lot of money. This didn’t seem like a bad plan at all...

Austin stood, wobbling a little in the high heels that were now on his feet. He wondered how women wore these things; then he gulped. He was the one wearing them for the time being. It started to sink in that he was a woman for the time being. He realized that if he had any hope of undoing this, he needed to get back to the lab. Then again, he wasn’t sure exactly what part of his experiment had gone wrong in a way that would cause a body swap. It still seemed all so unlikely. Then again, the obvious evidence of what happened was right in front of him. He walked carefully across campus, not wanting to trip in these shoes. He attempted to observe side conversations, seeing if anyone else was swapped. They didn’t seem to be. Then again, he realized that it was entirely possible that they just weren’t mentioning it, not wanting people to think they were crazy. It did seem crazy, after all. As he continued to observe people on campus, he started to size them up, considering what would’ve happened if he swapped with someone else instead of this woman. Honestly, he realized this body was probably on the high end of the spectrum for those he could’ve swapped with. She was quite good looking. He would’ve preferred to stay a man; heck, he would’ve preferred to not swap with anyone at all. But if it had to be a woman, this wasn’t that bad. And if he couldn’t find a way to reverse it back at the lab, this wasn’t exactly a terrible body to be stuck in either...

The Dud

“It’s just not fair,” Wayne complained, “I was the one that did the research to discover the body swapping spell. I gathered the ingredients. So how come you guys got to swap with the two hot, popular chicks, and I got stuck as the dumpy nerdy girl!”

“That’s just the way things turned out,” Taylor shrugged with a smile, “When we swapped with the girls in that soroity, we each knew that we all had a one in three chance of getting the dud. It just turned out that it happened to be you. But, hey, how about we have a party tonight and give you a makeover? Who knows, it may even just make you as hot as the rest of us!”

Equations (Part 1)

Austin had been working on the thesis for his doctoral degree in physics, and after running the numbers for years, he was nearing what he was sure was a breakthrough. It seemed that under the right conditions, light could have substantial mass. He was eager to use the university’s labs to put his theory to a test. He took great care in creating the right conditions, then he activated a dim light. But it soon got out of control and the light grew larger and brighter. Due to the light having mass, he was pushed to his feet; the light was so bright, he was blinded. He couldn’t describe how terrified he was. Then the pressure of the light’s mass subsided and the brightness faded. The world was coming into focus again. Austin looked around. He was still in a different campus building a short distance from the lab. It was a seemingly unexpected result of his experiment. Then as he tried to stand up, he noticed another unexpected result. The body he was now in -- it wasn’t his. He was now in another person’s body -- a woman’s body! She was likely another student at the school. Was she now in his body? Or someone else’s? How many people had his experiment affected? And how to fix this? He hadn’t theorized anything in regards to body swapping with his equations!

An Education

As Aaron looked in the mirror to tie the long hair back into a ponytail, he felt like he was starting back at square one. For the past decade he had studied hard in undergrad and graduate school, then there was the endless search until he finally scored a teaching position at a local college. Then just as spoke the first word in front of his first class, he found himself sitting in the hall hearing his voice recite the lecture he had prepared.

For some inexplicable reason, he was now inside the body of one of his freshman students, a young woman. He decided it best not to panic as everyone else was acting completely normally -- including his own body.

After class, he went to the nearest bathroom, reminding himself he now had to use the woman’s room. It was hard not to contemplate what his new life would be like. He’d be going through the motions all over again, but as someone else this time. He didn’t even know much about the woman he now was. He hadn’t learned any of his students’ names; he’d barely even reviewed the class list!

Marching Band

Everyone at school was pretty shocked when Olivia joined the marching band. She was the most popular girl in class, why was she doing something so nerdy? What no one knew was that the night before, Olivia had swapped bodies with Eugene, one of the biggest nobodies in the school. The two had quickly agreed on some basic ground rules about what each could do with the other’s body, but they were both free to continue doing what they enjoyed. For Eugene, that meant being in the marching band. While it seemed everyone noticed odd behavior from who they thought was Olivia. No one paid attention to the changes Eugene’s body was enacting. In a few months, Eugene would destroy Olivia’s popularity despite her beauty. At the same time, Olivia would transform Eugene into one of the popular students.

Sorority

The Coach of the college’s men’s soccer team had been unchanged as a result of the Great Shift, but it seemed not a single member of his team was so lucky. It appears his team had not been far away from the Alpha Kappa sorority at the time of the massive body switching event. As a result, it didn’t look like he had much of a team anymore. Despite the men’s drive to continue, they were now all in the bodies of the Alpha Kappa’s, who had a reputation for being studious and not very athletic.

Not Any Time Soon

Jason knew to expect changes after going off to college, but he never expected one of them would be finding himself in someone else’s body within the first week! He was in his dorm room when it happened. His vision blurred for a moment, and his dorm room suddenly became different. He sat down to soak it all in and noticed the clothes on his body and the shape of it. He was definitely a woman now. He could feel the long hair on his head and glasses on his face. After taking a moment to calm down, he went out to the common area.

There was a television on and many of the other students gathered as well. The news reports were calling it “The Great Shift,” and many of his classmates were in a panic. Jason was trying to be calmer than most, but he had lots of questions that he knew he wasn’t getting answers to any time soon.

Frat House

Brent had hoped that last night was all a bad dream, but when he woke up he realized he wasn’t. All of his fraternity brothers had their bodies stolen by the members of a sorority last night at a wild party, and that meant that he too was stuck in a body of one of the sisters. Normally, he’d be psyched to wake up with tons of hot women surrounding him, but he didn’t want to be one of them! He felt weird wearing her skimpy nightgown, having breasts hanging from his chest, and who the hell wears heels to bed? Brent didn’t have too long to focus on the changes as his frat brother’s were looking to him for a scheme to get their bodies back.

Dorm Life

For the first month or so after the Great Shift, things didn't change much in the dorm room of Todd, Pat, and Fred even though Todd and Pat had been swapped into the bodies of two women while Fred were still a guy. Then, of course, after a night of heavy drinking the two men-turned-women bragged about how flexible their new bodies were. Fred asked them to demonstrate and the two obliged. It wasn't long before they all started getting ideas and complicating their relationships forever.

Caution

It had been decades since the old factory closed down. No one ever talked about why. The truth was that the company had been working on strange experiments there, but particles leaked. These particles were found to have strange effects on people. It would transform their forms, switch two people’s brains, and other fantastic occurrences. By closing the factory, the owner had thought the problems were contained. But he never counted on kids from the college poking around. Looking for a place to down a few beers before heading to the beach, Tony and his girlfriend, Nancy, slipped into the inner wall. They ignored the caution signs, but soon wish they hadn’t. Within an instant, Tony and Nancy fused together with Tony’s mind in control of Nancy’s body. Not knowing what else to do, he made a quick exit.

Big Man on Campus

A strange explosion on campus had caused the everyone at the college to swap bodies. Before it all happened, Chad had fancied himself a “big man on campus.” After all, he was a legacy; he was handsome; he was a member of the most prestigious frat; and so on. And with explosion that all changed.

He had no idea whose body he swapped into. He didn’t want to know. She was ugly; she was a troll. And, sadly, he was now her. Several of his frat brothers had also swapped into women’s bodies, but they were all hot! Chad wouldn’t say he was jealous -- as he’d prefer to have swapped with a guy or not have swapped at all -- but he felt like he really got it the worst. His hair was frizzy; he had to wear thick glasses; he had a big nose. The list could go on for him. He hated everything about this body. His only thought was when he went home for break, he could ask his parents to get plastic surgery. Maybe if he spent enough money, he could do something to improve this body’s appearance, but he wasn’t hopeful.

Tolerance

In an effort to foster understanding and tolerance at the university, all incoming freshmen were required to switch places with another student for the first week of classes. With the advancement of body swapping technology, the swap wasn’t just a theoretical endeavor.

After settling into his own dorm, John found himself on the floor of a different room with his head pounding. He couldn’t believe he was a woman -- he was just thankful that her style didn’t seem too girlie. Apparently, swapping with the opposite gender was fairly common. The college felt it was important for the male students to understand the difficulties that incoming female students faced. In fact, since implementing the program a few back, incidents of harassment on campus have dropped by a significant amount...

The New Me

"I was born with them." I told this lie all the time once I reached college usually before they even asked. They'd still usually ask anyway, and I'd have to explain, "Yes, the ears, the tail, AND the the horns."

I hadn't been born female either, but I decided they didn't need to know that. In high school, it hadn't been so easy. Everyone there knew who I really was. They all knew I was into science and experimenting with CRISPR. Turning myself into a tiefling was the intentional part; turning myself into a woman wasn't!

Still, it had the desired effect. Most of the students in my overly religious small town became absolutely afraid of me I wasn't sure what was worse for them, that I looked like a devil or that I was technically transgender now. Either way, they stayed clear. I welcomed being an outcast.

College was different; it was certainly a lot more accepting. I appreciated that I could make friends. Sometimes I almost regretted making such extensive changes to myself, but I quickly pushed those thoughts aside as I thought about how much I really liked the new me.

Midterms

A spell found inside an old library book swapped the bodies of nerdy computer geek Walter and ditsy blond bimbo Tammi. Walter certainly couldn’t complain at first. He had never felt so beautiful or popular, but then he found out that Tammi was skipping all his classes. Even if she did attend, there would be no way for her to keep up with his advanced studies! If he didn’t get back to his own body soon, he would fail. He returned to the library. The spell had to be in one of these books. Now it was just a matter of finding it before his first midterm at 3PM.

Horribly Wrong

An experiment in the basement of the science building at the University had gone horribly wrong, resulting in an explosion. No one was hurt, but it had caused a strange body swap between two students: the nerdy Martin Klein and the popular Kelly Chow. Both were nervous at first, but the professors promised answers by tomorrow. When they arrived the next day, Kelly was disgusted by how Martin had dressed her body. He had made her look like a total geek. She nearly flipped out when the professors told her they wouldn’t be able to reverse the swap for at least a week. Martin was a bit more cool-headed. He took a deep breath and rubbed his temples. He couldn’t imagine the next week would be easy, but he was confident he could make it through.

Library

Eugene found the spell swapped him with the sexy librarian's assistant at his college and was sure the reversal had to be in one of the other books in the same section. What he didn't know was that the librarian's assistant had already snuck out with reversal, which was actually in the book that caused the swap in the first place.

Entry Level

Joseph was supposed to be excited; he was supposed to be preparing for his senior year of college next week. Instead, he was stuck in a crammed bus during rush hour, coming home from his sister’s entry level job. It was all thanks to a machine their dad had made, which swapped their bodies. Now he was stuck in the body of his sister, Mary, until their dad could fix the machine. Joseph had been quite miserable each day since the swap, but today had been particularly bad. He sat on the bus home; his sister was sure taking her sweet time to answer. He groaned when she told him that their father still hadn’t fixed the machine. Joseph snapped back that he had better do so before his classes started on Wednesday. Mary was a little more relaxed. She enjoyed the time off from work. All Joseph could do was give her a sour face as she tried to tell him to make the best of the swap.

Hoops

“What do you miss most about your old body?” Ron asked Jerome.

“It’s weird being almost two feet shorter! That’s for sure!” Jerome replied, “And being a chick is a total trip as well!”

“I’m glad we didn’t lose our basketball scholarships!”

“Yeah, they passed that law after the Great Shift protecting that sort of thing. It might be playing that I miss most though.”

“Well, we can still play!”

“Yeah, but you know what I mean...like for the college team. They just recruited new players that would crush us now.”

“You may have lost a team, but you gained a good girlfriend,” Ron said as he laid his head on Jerome’s shoulder, “And I got a good one, too.”

“I love you too,” Jerome said giving Ron a kiss, “And I probably never would’ve realized that if not for the Shift, so I guess in a way it was all worth it.”

“Totally worth it. Now let’s play some hoops.”

Soccer Mom

It was the first soccer game of Raul’s college career. He had gotten a small scholarship to be the first in his family to attend university, and his parents were even in the crowd gathered under cloudy skies. Raul had managed to score the only goal by the time the rains came at around the half (not bad for the college freshman), causing a delay. While they waited, a bolt of lightning struck the field causing a phenomenon that had never been recorded before or since -- a mass body swap. Players, referees, coaches, and fans all found them swapped around. Raul ended up in the body of his own mother! He was now around 40 years old and a woman, but he wasn’t going to let either of those deter him. Once the rains cleared, he insisted on continuing to play. The refs discussed canceling the game completely, but enough players were like Raul and insisted going on. Raul realized the odds were against him. The other team mostly swapped with other players (either on the same team or his) and one now had the body of a professional who was in the stands. Despite this, his team pulled off the win. To the top it off, the only other goal scored after everyone was swapped was Raul, despite now being in the body of his own 40-year-old mother.
