The Return

Originally posted on April 12, 2020.

It was just a couple days ago that Dan had climbed this fence to escape; now he was climbing it to get back inside. He wasn’t sure of the extent of the weird experiments that were going on in this lab, but he knew what happened to him. They removed his brain and put it inside of someone else’s body -- a woman’s body. Despite this fact, when he saw an opportunity to make a run for it, he did. Trying to adjust to someone else’s life was just too weird. Maybe if it had been another guy or someone he knew a little more about, it would’ve been possible. But a complete stranger? A woman? Yeah, no thanks.

Dan also had concerns about the kinds of things this lab was doing to his original body. If they could swap brains, who knew what else was possible? He was certainly more than a little concerned about what could be happening to it in there. He knew he still had a lot to work out. How would he find his body? How could he force them to swap him back to normal? He hoped to form a more solid plan once he made it inside...

HyperSleep

Originally posted on October 28, 2018.

Private Winston O’Grady had signed up for the military experiment to be placed in hyper sleep for twenty years. He was told in that time he wouldn’t age or dream. He’d enter the chamber in an isolated part of a secret facility, and it would feel like just a short nap before waking up. And so he entered and moment later to Winston, it felt like it was over and he exited the chamber. Except there was a lot wrong. The most obvious thing was his body -- it wasn’t his own! He was now a woman, dressed quite fashionably compared to his uniform. The there was the facility; it seemed abandoned. He wasn’t sure if he had slept for the full twenty years or not, or why he was in the wrong body. He began to explore, hoping to find someone...anyone. Ultimately, he stumbled across a phone on a panel with a bunch of buttons and knobs. There seemed to be a dial tone, but any number he remembered didn’t seem to connect. Even 911 came back as out of service. This was certainly strange. His next thought was finding a way out...

Andrew had been nervous about signing up for the psychological study at first. He knew it entailed swapping bodies with another participant of the opposite gender and living their life for six months. However the start of the study was remarkably smooth. He swapped with a Asian woman named Hiromi. She was smart, young, and attractive. Settling into her life was a breeze. But as the days passed, Andrew noticed something weird. Women’s items just seemed to cost more than men’s. When he noticed his usual $20 haircut would now be more than twice as expensive, hat was the last straw. Instead, he bought a pair of scissors and looked at himself in the mirror. How hard could it be to cut his own hair? Plus, he’d save a lot of money. This didn’t seem like a bad plan at all...

Hiding

Jay hid up against a wall when he suddenly found himself in a strange place. He was sure he was in danger when he heard whispering voices. He couldn't fully make them out, but he was sure the phrases, "body swap," "escaped," and "further experimentation" were muttered. Considering the giant breasts sticking out of the pink top (neither of which were his), he had a feeling that the bodyswap reference was about him...

Memories

Originally posted on June 28, 2009.

"I know your experiment is responsible for this! Switch me back now!" Ryan yelled from the body of Sgt. Maggie Wilson while pointing a gun to head scientist at the base where they all worked.

"I can't," he explained, "You only THINK you are Ryan! You ARE ACTUALLY Maggie! I just transplanted all of Ryan's thoughts and memories into you! I'm sorry that I lost you're original brain patterns! There's nothing I can do! I could effectively switch your brain patterns with his, he'd be back in here in two days doing the exact same thing you are now!"

Somehow Maggie knew he was right. She may think of her herself as Ryan. She could remember everything about being him, down to the smallest detail, but the fact that he could feel the sway of Maggie's hips as he walked the weight of her breasts...the muscle memory was just too familiar...

A Single Radish and a Piece of Bok Choy

A single radish and a piece of bok choy, it didn’t seem like very much food. Danielle had given Nick strict orders about what he could eat for each meal as long as they were stuck in each other’s bodies. This was lunch. He knew he’d be hungry soon after, but he smiled as he told himself it would all be over soon. In a few days, they’d return to the lab that did this, and they’d swap back. He didn’t think switching bodies would change much, but living the live of someone else actually proved to be quite challenging. Danielle’s daily routine was just so much different from his. It ha been part of the experiment; he had to spend his time as she would. That meant getting up early to go workout, eating the meals she would eat, and even doing her job. Another smile came across his face; she probably had a harder time with his job than he did with hers. Doing Danielle’s job felt almost like a vacation to him; if only he was able to chow down on just a little more food!

Like a Dream

After the experiment, James woke up more than a little disoriented. He knew who he really was, or who he was supposed to really be. After all, he still had all his own memories. But he also had all the memories of Rachel, the woman whose body he was now in. He remembered her first kiss, her marriage and divorce, and even going to bed last night as her. That meant his own memories felt a little bit like a forty year long dream, pushed to the side of the thoughts, being overwhelmed by the evidence of looking down and seeing Rachel’s body, that told his mind those were the correct memories. He had the continue to tell himself that he was really James, that all those thoughts had happened. After all, he had a mission to accomplish.

“No one will be home for hours,” Alvin assured Steve, “We know the body swap device works; it just overheated. I am going to run back home to get the parts to fix it. I’ll have you back to normal before you know it. Oh, and you may not realize this, but I think being in Karen’s body is already having an effect on you. Your stance and movements are already much more like hers than your own.”

Steve couldn’t think of a good comeback, and the more he argued the longer it would be before he was able to swap back into his own body. He never appreciated being a test subject for Alvin’s weird inventions and this one had put him in a particularly odd situation...

Uh-oh

Uh-oh. This was bad. Jesse had signed up for an experimental procedure to switch bodies with another volunteer. He had swapped with a young woman named Hilary. They were free to do whatever they felt like for the next 48 hours, but they had to return at the end of that time and not a minute later. Jesse had decided to do some camping in Hilary’s body. It was his favorite activity, but for some reason it just wasn’t as much fun now that he was in Hilary’s body. He was sure the researchers would find that interesting. He thought about it as he drove back from the campsite. That’s when his car broke down. He had been stuck now for three hours without a single person passing by. He needed to get back in less than a hour. Considering he was in a remote location with no cell phone service, he was running out of time and options.

“Sorry,” Dave sighed, “It’s easy to forget that you aren’t Sarah. I’m sorry for grabbing your waist when I saw you. It’s also tough having her at home in your body. She claims that I love her for her body and not her mind. Honestly, Curt, seeing you in her body makes me wonder if she’s right.”

Horribly Wrong

Originally posted on October 8, 2012.

An experiment in the basement of the science building at the University had gone horribly wrong, resulting in an explosion. No one was hurt, but it had caused a strange body swap between two students: the nerdy Martin Klein and the popular Kelly Chow. Both were nervous at first, but the professors promised answers by tomorrow. When they arrived the next day, Kelly was disgusted by how Martin had dressed her body. He had made her look like a total geek. She nearly flipped out when the professors told her they wouldn’t be able to reverse the swap for at least a week. Martin was a bit more cool-headed. He took a deep breath and rubbed his temples. He couldn’t imagine the next week would be easy, but he was confident he could make it through.

Trapped

Kathy and Wes’s father was a crackpot inventor. When he urged the two to try his new transformaton chamber -- that supposedly could swap two people’s minds -- the siblings did so with hesitation; their father’s inventions just never worked properly! Wes nearly flipped, however, after exiting the chamber to see his own body looking back at him from across the room. Realizing it actually worked, he gave a nervous smile before becoming worried about being in Kathy’s body. It made his heart beat faster and forced him to breath heavier, making him ever more aware of his new chest. He nearly fainted though when he saw his father trying to put out flames coming out of the device’s main console. It had caught fire, leaving the siblings stuck in each other’s bodies for the foreseeable future.

Is It a Choice?

Last year, Steven signed up for an experiment at his college that ended up transferring his brain into another student’s body. He was only supposed to be in her body for a few hours, but when it was time to swap back something went wrong. He was apparently going to be stuck in Angelica’s body until the researchers found a way to fix this. At first, Steven was devastated. He didn’t want to be Angelica; he didn’t want to be a woman. But days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months. Eventually, he just got used to it. In fact, he was surprised when the researchers showed up at his dorm room a year later explaining they could finally swap the pair back. Steven just laughed and asked if he had to return to his own body. He had gotten so used to being Angelica over the past twelve months that he simply preferred to stay this way now.

He approached her and said he overheard her talk about the body swapper she had made. He offered to help test it on one condition. And so Don swapped bodies with the nerdy girl. She got to successfully test her invention, and he got to spy on Cindy unnoticed. This had gone on several days now, but so far Don had no solid evidence. The closest he came was pretending to read a book while spying Cindy at the library with another guy. It turned out they were just study partners for an assignment, but could there be more? Don wasn’t sure he wanted to swap back until he knew for sure...

Headphones

Per the instructions of the researcher, Evan put on the headphones and listened to the various soothing sounds. He was to keep them on until it was silent. He estimated it was about thirty minutes before that happened, at which time he removed the headphones.

“And how do you feel?” The researcher asked.

“Fine,” Evan replied.

“Do you notice anything strange?”

Evan shrugged, not realizing his body had completely changed -- transforming him into the person who participated in the experiment right before him; he was now a woman, and he didn’t even realize it...

University Experiment

Graham was understandably skeptical when he signed up for an experiment to swap bodies with another student at the university. He almost laughed aloud when he saw the stereotypical sci-fi setup in the lab, complete with large dome shaped objects to go over the head. He was shocked after they put the device on his head, and he felt a jolt: looking down at his hand...it had worked! That wasn't his hand at all! However, noticing the manicured nails, he had hoped to have swapped with another male participant instead of a female one!

Super Important and Stuff

It seemed like a fascinating experiment. Joel had retired as a psychology professor ten years ago, but still read up on things going on at the local university. The latest experiment involved people swapping minds, and the school was looking for volunteers. Joel signed up, figuring as a nearly eighty year old man, he’d significantly mix up the participant pool, which would likely be mostly college students. They implanted a chip in Joel, and he was told it would be triggered at a later date. Once he swapped, he’d remember who he really was, but he would retain most of the personality and vital skills of the person he swapped with. Joel had so many questions, but he was told to save them for later. It was a few days before the swap initiated, and suddenly Joel found himself in the middle of the football field during a game. His first thoughts were of the scientific impact of what just happened, but these thoughts soon faded. They just stopped seeming interesting to him as he instead decided to focus on how big he could smile for the crowd. He remembered participating in the experiment for its scientific value, but suddenly the extra cash he was going to get for it seemed much more important. Of course, he couldn’t focus on that right now, could he? He had to nail this cheer routine! It was, like, super important to him and stuff!
