Subscribers at The Little Shift level on DeviantArt may recognize this caption. I don't usually post the exclusive captions from DeviantArt here on the Archive, but they do pop up from time to time. When do they tend to pop up the most? Well, at times when I would encourage you to throw a little support my way. I'm trying new things with video and such that just aren't exactly cheap. (Trust me, at this point, it's still costing me much more than I make from doing it, by far.) Anyway, that's my not-all-all-often ask is to consider subscribing.

"That ride looks stupid," My girlfriend Audrey said looking at the new attraction at the amusement park called 'The Switcher.'
"Come on," I protested, "It's gotta be good! Look at how long the line is!"
She rolled her eyes, "You can ride; I'm going to get some cotton candy. But I'm telling you, there's nothing to it. People scream their heads off like it's some sort of insane thrill ride, but they just sit there for three minutes completely motionless. It's lame."
Truth be told, it was this seeming contradiction that had me fascinated along with people exiting the ride calling it "life changing" and "intense." I let Audrey go off while I waited alone in line. It was long, but it moved fairly quickly. I noted Audrey had returned with her cotton candy, and so I offered to let her join me at the front of the line. She refused, and I went solo into one of the ride's plastic seats. An attendant strapped me in and a safety announcement played.
Audrey was technically right; the ride didn't move in the slightest. I couldn't quite explain what it did; it felt like my soul was ripped from my body moving at high speed to the right. There was a quick pause, barely enough time to catch your breath but just enough time to scream. Then you'd be shot back to the left, even faster this time. It wasn't until the end when it slowed down some when I could figure out what was going on. It wasn't moving your body with physics like most rides, it was moving your essense from body to body with pure energy somehow. I could feel each new body I was in as the ride slowed down: A middle aged man with a big gut, a mother next to her child, and then back to my original male body. Only it didn't quite stop there. With one final lurch, it swapped me once more out of my body and into the body of a woman around my age wearing a pink dress who had gone on with her two friends.
As we were instructed to leave, I objected. I was in the wrong body! The ride operator just shrugged, saying it happened sometime.
Audrey was a little surprised when my body walked right by her. She was even more shocked when I approached and told her what happened and what the ride did. I expected her to be mad or scold me, considering her boyfriend was now a woman. Instead, she just started laughing.
