Carl could never stand to see his wife cry, even if she was doing it from his body. The two had swapped bodies because of a weird medallion she had found, and now she was crying because she accidentally threw it away before the time when they could swap back. Carl dried his wife's tears before heading over to the dumpster where the building's trash was collected. He wasn't looking forward to it, but it was worth it to get them back to their own bodies and make her happy. Meanwhile, Carl's wife clutched the medallion tightly. She had hated fooling Carl like this, but if she didn't really make him believe like she wanted to swap back, he'd be suspicious when she claimed she "lost" the medallion "accidentally."

In the massive worldwide body swapping phenomenon that would come to be called “The Great Shift,” it was fairly common for a husband and wife to swap bodies with each other. In fact, in the small town of Clarksville, such a couple swapping bodies occurred almost universally. The guys now in their wives’ bodies wanted to continue on as normally as they could. On Sunday afternoon, this meant enjoying a football game and drinking some beers. The women, on the other hand, insisted that the husbands keep their former body in good shape -- and that included attending their regularly scheduled yoga class on Sunday afternoon. Fortunately, the couples were able to reach a compromise. The yoga class still went on as planned, but the guys were allowed to drink beer during it, and they set up a TV in the front in order to make sure they wouldn’t miss a moment of the game...

Slipping

Ryan paused to look at the jewelry on sale in the window display at the mall. He was so tempted to buy a necklace or maybe some earrings, but he had to stop himself. It wasn’t that he couldn’t afford it, he just could tell that he was mentally slipping. He didn’t think there would be much harm when his latest invention switched the brains of him and him wife, but as he made the repairs to get them back in his own body, he often found his mind wandering to things more his wife’s liking than his own. For instance, he found himself distracted by celebrity gossip just yesterday, and then this morning, it had been his wife who picked up the wrench and started working to fix the machine. He wondered how she had any idea what she was doing...but he soon realized he didn’t! He felt worthless, but his wife had soon asked for him to get a part at the mall. Ryan used to run in and run out of the mall, but this time he lingered. For several hours, he just window shopped. It wasn’t until the jewelry that he finally caught himself, but by that point, he had been at the mall almost the entire day!

Honeymoon

“Don’t worry about it, Janet; I warned you before we got married that my mom was going to do this. It’s one of her weird traditions that happens to all the couples in my family. A spell is cast on the newlyweds to swap bodies for the first 48 hours of marriage. I know it’s not exactly how you wanted to kick off our honeymoon, but it’s not like we have much of a choice,” Kevin softly explained to his worried wife.

“I just didn’t know how weird it would feel to be a guy -- to be you,” Janet replied, “I just want my body back.”

“And you will soon. We’ll both be back to normal in less than two days now. Just try to enjoy yourself until then. l’ll do whatever it takes to make you happy.”

Not a Minute More

A frustrated Thomas sighed as he put his hand on his hip, pleading with his wife, "You said you wanted to try this weird bodyswapping experiment, which I reluctantly agreed to, but you promised it would only be for an hour. I've been a good sport, letting you keep my body a little longer; I've been in your body now for three hours. Can we please change back now?"

"Just fifteen more minutes," Thomas's wife, Janice, coaxed, “I like being tall!”

He sighed once more, "Okay, but not a minute more!"

First Swap

In the old days, bodyswapping machines were large, unwieldy inventions. The first time Mr. and Mrs. Stewart swapped bodies, Mrs. Stewart (then known as Miss Harrison) was so overwhelmed by the feeling of her new male body that she had to hold onto the machine or support. Mr. Stewart simply folded his arms over his chest with an upset look; he didn't quite like the feeling of breasts on his chest. Thirty years later, the couple had been married for twenty five years, but they still loved swapping into each other's bodies...especially with the new invention of a handheld bodyswapper! Though now it was often Mrs. Stewart who folding her arms in a pouting manner; while she still enjoyed being in her husband’s body, she did miss her own chest.

Who Am I?

It had been three weeks since Eileen and her husband had been captured by the mad scientist and locked in cells. And last week, Eileen’s husband was taken out for some sort of experiment and he never came back. Things got quiet for a while until the mad scientist took her for a bit of a tour where he opened doors remotely while guiding her around with his voice.

The tour was mostly empty cells, but there was a few failed experiments with mostly disfigured bodies. It was horrifying. As she neared the end, a cell door slid open and Eileen was shocked to see what seemed to be her own body.

“Did you clone me?” She asked with disgust.

“It’s more like a copy,” The voice of the scientist said, “You see, inside that body is the mind of your husband. I was able to transform him by copying your DNA. What may be most remarkable is that he thinks he is you. I have made it so he is not able to see you right now, but don’t worry, I already gave him a tour earlier and he asked quite similar questions when he saw you.”

“But if he doesn’t know who he really is...” Eileen thought about this carefully, “How do I know that’s not really Eileen? How do I know I’m not her husband trapped in a copy of her body?”

“You don’t,” Laughed the scientist.

“I might not really be Eileen,” She whispsered, “I might really be a man? Oh, god!”

Compromise

When Greg swapped bodies with his fiancée Kate as a result of the Great Shift, he knew it was going to be difficult. However, they were still both committed to making it work. And while compromise was at the root of every relationship, being body swapped took that to a whole different level. For instance, Greg completely refused to wear dresses, and he wasn’t ready to make an exception for the wedding. Kate, of course, always had dreams of her body walking down the aisle in a gorgeous gown -- even if she was no longer to the one who was going to be doing that walking. But they did reach a compromise.

Greg’s wedding outfit wouldn’t be a dress, but it would still be feminine. He agreed to a veil, and he even agreed to heels -- which he never, ever wore normally. Kate was more than pleased with how her body looked. It wasn’t a gown, but it would work. On the flip side, Kate had no issues with wearing a suit, but she did get Greg to agree on several other things she insisted including the menu and the venue.

As weird as this all was for Greg, he was still happy to be marrying Kate.

“When we swapped bodies last month ago, I thought it was some sort of cosmic fluke,” Lisa told her husband Ryan, “We both seemed to struggle adapting to being in each other’s bodies. We promised to look for a way back to normal. But now I see this? A $3000 charge on our credit card to something called ‘Body Swap.’”

“I’m sorry,” Ryan confessed as he looked at the credit card bill Lisa handed to him.

“I just don’t understand why. Why did you swap our bodies in the first place? Why do pretend to look for a way back when you knew about a way back? Why did you lie to me about so much?”

“I don’t know. I intended to swap back after a day, but I just enjoyed being you so much. I thought you’d never know. I can’t even fully explain why I was curious in the first place or why I felt compelled to pay so much to do it...”

The wedding had been pretty awkward for Scott, but the honeymoon was even weirder. After quickly getting down to the business of a newly married couple, Scott was pretty sure Wendy was NOT inside his body. That meant he literally was married to himself, the other half of his soul. He excused himself as he headed out of the hotel room and down to the beach. Part of him felt bad, Wendy’s soul was probably still trapped deep down in this body, helpless to do anything as long as he was in control of her body. Another part of him was excited, people talk about marrying a soulmate, but Scott knew his situation took that to a whole new level now. He couldn’t imagine arguing with himself ever. It seemed like a perfect life. He wouldn’t even have to tell his original body. Why ruin it? And he actually enjoyed being Wendy. This life could be perfect...

Self Love (Part 1)

With their wedding only a few weeks away, Scott had been begging Wendy to let him see her in the dress beforehand. She kept insisting it was bad luck and refused to let him see her in it. Scott had a little trick up his sleeve. He had dabbled in the black arts several years ago and still remembered a few spells. He waited until the day of her final fitting, then he proceeded to chant. He hoped the spell would work; it had been years since he cast it. If he did it right, his soul would temporarily split into two. One half would stay with his body, the other would allow him to possess someone else -- in this case Wendy. Neither half would be connected to the other until after about an hour, the errant half would snap back to his original body, and he’d have two sets of memories of that time. Sure enough, the spell seemed to work. The half of his soul now in Wendy’s body was standing in the shop, admiring the dress. It was gorgeous. He felt like a lucky man (even if he technically wasn’t one at the moment). The tailor made a note that the gown was fitting perfectly, and Scott was assisted in getting out of it. He changed back into Wendy’s clothes and waited, knowing it was only a matter of time before he snapped back to his own body with this wonderful memory.

Except when an hour passed, and he was still in her body.

An hour turned to a day, then a week, and finally it was the day of his wedding. Scott felt weird. He hadn’t said anything to his original body about the spell, slightly nervous of the thought that he had messed up and that it was potentially Wendy in there, waiting for him to admit that this swap was his fault. Of course, it was also possible his own soul was still in there, not wanting to tell the person he thought was Wendy about a failed attempt at magic. Now he was going to essentially be marrying himself while wearing the dress he had been so desperate to see just a few weeks earlier.

However, he was quick to adapt to her life, cooking delicious dinners and finishing the cleaning in record time. Plus, he loved not having to go to the office everyday. It was going to be hard to convince him to switch back!

The Good Life

Tyrone and Alexia were living the life. The pair had found a weird bodyswapping ray that allowed them to take over the lives of a rich couple. No more minimum wage jobs and struggling to survive; now they had it all. A boat, a mansion, and more money than they knew what to do with. Tyrone had just wished that when Alexia was using the ray gun that she would've swapped his body with the husband instead of the wife, but he was adapting to the role quite well with dresses and expensive gifts.

Vacation

To make their vacation a little more interesting Marc's wife, Kristen, had brought a medallion with the capability to swap two people's bodies. Marc immediately dismissed the idea as pure fantasy, but quickly became a believer when his wife swapped bodies with him as he slept. Marc agreed to the swap for the week and had to admit he still had a pretty good time, though on the last day Kristen couldn't find the medallion. They tore the hotel room apart looking for it to no avail. Marc remembered they had discussed swapping back the previous night on the beach right before making love in each other's bodies for the first time. As Marc surveyed the situation, he came to the conclusion that it was a real posibility the tide had come in and washed the medallion out to sea. Not wanting to accept this, however, he hoped it got snagged by one of the rocks on the beach and began a frantic search. Kristen chuckled at her husband-turned-wife. There was no way she was going to tell him she stood on the beach that morning and threw the medllion as far into the ocean as she could.

Pregnant!

It was supposed to be for one night only. A sexual experiment for Evan and his wife, to experience sex from the other side of the gender fence. They used a magic medallion to swap into each other's bodies and went at it all night like rabbits. The next day, they couldn't seem to change back! Then they both remembered that the medallion wouldn't work if one of the people was pregnant. Evan gulped. He had enjoyed the previous night, but he didn't want to spend the next nine months as his own wife, and he especially didn't want to do it pregnant...and the thought of giving birth sent chills down his spine. However, he also knew he really had no choice in the matter.

Marriage Counselor

Noah and his wife, Alana, had been seeing a marriage counselor for about a decade now. It had helped keep their relationship stable and strong. In their latest session, the councelor had recommend a brand new technology that they could use to further enhance their bond, a body swapper.

Noah questioned it. He never heard of it before, but Alana jumped on the idea. Noah didn’t want to seem like he was holding back, so he soon agreed as well. The counselor pulled out a device, and soon Noah was in Alana’s body and Alana was in Noah’s. The counselor told them they should spend a week as each other, doing whatever the other would do.

This meant Alana was now going to Noah’s job, and Noah was going to the grocery store and making dinner. As he walked through the aisles, he didn’t mind it, but he missed working. He guessed this was how Alana had felt when they divided the responsibilities this way.

After the week was up, he couldn’t wait to be back in his own body. But that morning, they got a phone call. The receptionist told them the counselor had gone missing. They asked about the body swapper, but the receptionist had no idea what they were talking about. It looked like they’d continue to be stuck as each other!

Quarterback

Dwayne didn't know what he was going to tell his coach. He had gone to bed next to his wife, and everything was normal. However, when he woke up he was in his wife's body and neither she (nor his body) was nowhere to be found! There would be no way he'd be able to quarterback a professional football game in his wife's body! He just hoped he wouldn't be sued for his his multi-million dollar contract!

After swapping bodies with his wife moments after getting married, Norman was nervous. He wanted to cancel their Hawaiian honeymoon, but his wife would not hear of it. They had spend a lot of money on those plane tickets, and they were going to enjoy it. She also insisted they pretend to be each other until they could find a way to swap back. Upon arriving, she insisted they go to the beach, and Norman got dressed in his wife's swimsuit. It felt so strange having breasts pop out the top of his top, and he felt the bottom barely covered the crotch. This was going to be the worst honeymoon ever...

But Roy didn’t wake up in the man’s body of this couple, he woke up in the woman’s! And while she was Asian, her breasts certainly weren’t small! Roy was shocked, and even more surprised that his wife still insist they go to the beach as planned. Roy tried pulling on his wife’s bikini, but it didn’t fit at all! He was going to be so humiliated out there! His wife smiled; it would be fitting revenge!
