Uncomfortable

Nathan shifted uncomfortably as he sat in the waiting room. This was going to be his first time seeing the gynecologist since the Great Shift. This was the first time since becoming a woman that he was actually feeling a little awkward. He knew this was going to be one of the things he’d have to get used to now that he was a woman, but it still felt weird. Then again, he had remembered one of his girlfriends had complained about the experience long before the Shift. Maybe this was just the kind of visit that made anyone uncomfortable, no matter their initial body. The thought didn’t offer Nathan much comfort as his name was called.

Deborah approached her old body, and sort of horrified at the words she heard coming from her mouth.

"What the f*ck's goin' on here?"

"I think we," Deborah paused shocked by the sound of her own now deep voice, which now came from the body of a large black man as a result of the Great Shift, "I think we switched bodies. You have my body!"

"Switch bods? Hells, no! I may have a f*ckin' p*ssy now, but I was never no fat ass like you!"

Deborah groaned. Apparently this wasn't a simple one for one bodyswap. Everyone was all messed up.

Out of Body Experience (Part 1)

Deborah couldn't believe quite what she was seeing. It looked like...like her! Was she having an out of body experience of something? It was weird, but she could see her own body wearing her pink dress. Soon she saw her body look down at itself with surprise. Before long she saw that it was feeling itself up! She started to storm over, and that's when she noticed the feelings to her own body. It felt...sluggish. When she finally looked down, she saw that she was now apparently in the body of a rather large black man....

Cold

Kyle couldn’t believe how often his girlfriend, April, complained about being cold. Even when it was perfectly comfortable, she asked if they could turn up the heat. He would roll his eyes before reluctantly relenting. But the tables turned after the Great Shift swapped the bodies of everyone on the planet, and Kyle and April found themselves in the body of the other. At first, Kyle told himself that he wasn’t going to ever complain about being cold. April, on the other hand, began to crank the air conditioner way up. Without saying a word, Kyle went into the closet to pull out one of April’s coats. He felt sill wearing the thing in the middle of summer, but that AC was so frigid. However, even with the coat, he could feel his nipples getting uncomfortable. He tried to bury himself deeper and deeper in the coat, but eventually decided to ask to turn it off. A smug look came across April’s face as she turned it off.

Acid Rain

While humanity always had some concern for pollution and acid rain, they were simply not prepared the ultimate consequences of their actions. The rain became so polluted that it wasn’t just acid, it was transformative. A single drop of falling rain could transform a person in any number of ways. Showers could shut down cities in mere minutes, with people shuttering themselves in buildings and cars. Still, from time to time, someone would get caught outside. Paul was one of those unlucky people. The umbrella he carried did nothing to stop the water from hitting him. He cursed as he felt his insides rearrange; there wasn’t anything on the weather report this morning about rain! A few moments later, his change was complete. He looked down at himself and he realized he was one of the lucky ones. He had only changed genders. Other people had become different animals or (in some extreme cases) things like trees or rocks. The other piece of good news for Paul was that he could now go out in the rain without further being transformed, though it was often a very lonely world out there in the rain.

Charles was trying his best to run to the other side of the pool, to try to ask his own body what was up or to try and figure out why they had swapped bodies or something! He was slowed down quite severely by the heels on his feet. He thought about taking them off, but all the hooks and straps made him think that would take even longer. Besides, he began to reason to himself, they were cute and they made his legs look so good! The closer he got to his former body, the less concerned he seemed to be about the swap. In fact, before he could even get within an arm’s length, he simply stopped caring to go any further. He loved his new, hot body. Why would he even want to talk his former body; it might risk being swapped back!

Charles reclined back down, now seemingly having a more difficult time getting comfortable. He perked up again when he saw the person getting out of the pool. The similarity was more than uncanny, and at that moment it all his him. His body felt weird, and he could suddenly tell why. He was no longer in his own body; he was in someone else’s! His mind took a little longer to wrap itself around that, but as he started to see his own body preparing to leave, he knew he had to act. He stood up, feeling awkwardly off-balance and even more awkward with the heels on the feet of this body. He tried not to let that stop him; he had to move fast!

It had been a rather uneventful vacation for Charles so far. But on the third day, when he was lounging by the pool, he saw something odd. On the other side of the pool was a man who just dove in. Charles thought the man looked remarkably similar to himself; he seemed to even be wearing the exact same type of swim trunks. Of course, what Charles had yet to notice was the fact that his own body was now quite different. In fact, he had swapped bodies with one of the other hotel guests. He was now inside the body of a woman named Tasha Li, and she was in his body.

Uncontrollable Urge

Rodrigo kept telling himself that just because he had swapped bodies with Claire, it didn’t mean anything. He was still himself on the inside, and when they figured out how to swap back, everything would be back to normal. However, he kept having odd feelings that he couldn’t explain. When he walked past a shoe store, he couldn’t help but peek in. He started to think how cute the shoes on display were, how good they’d look on his feet after a quick pedicure, and how much he wanted to buy them. He had to snap himself back. What was he thinking? Why was he so obsessed with shoes? They didn’t seem like his own thoughts at all; they seemed more like...well, more like Claire’s. He wondered if being in her body was having some sort of effect on him, or if there were residual parts of her left behind. Either way, he knew he had to swap back as soon as possible. Not a Bad Way to Spend the Day

When the wife of Josh’s boss approached him at the annual company picnic, he was wary. She had always been a little strange and aloof, but she had a few drinks and started to seem downright crazy. She talked about being bored with her life, complaining that her husband made too much money, which didn’t allow her to work. She started begging Josh to switch lives with her. He dismissed it at first, saying his boss would certainly notice. She turned serious for a moment, telling him that he just didn’t understand. She’d prove what she was saying. The next thing Josh knew, the world was spinning around him. He felt tipsy, and he soon discovered he had switched bodies with his boss’s wife! The rest of the picnic was a blur, and sure enough, Josh woke up the next morning still in the body of his boss’s wife. He woke up alone, her husband already off to work nice and early. He suddenly understood her boredom. There didn’t seem to be anything to do, that is until he discovered a membership to a local club. Playing tennis and hitting the pool didn’t seem like a bad way to spend the day, even if he did have to do it in a woman’s body.

The initial test of John’s invention had done quite a bit of damage to its inner workings. However, considering that he was now in Maria’s body, he also had to admit that his body swapping device was a complete success! He was actually feeling quite confident inside her body, but Maria was a little less patient. She insisted that John fix the device as soon as possible to get them both back to normal. John had tightened at least a dozen bolts already but many of the internal circuits were completely fried. The work was going to take at least a week to fix. This was news that he knew Maria would not be happy to hear.

After the Great Shift, Martin never thought he’d get used to being a woman. Yet a mere week later, and he found himself in a department store gawking over dresses. In fact, he was even feeling downright giddy inside. Is this just something women felt about clothes shopping? He wondered, but he didn’t really care. A Single Radish and a Piece of Bok Choy

A single radish and a piece of bok choy, it didn’t seem like very much food. Danielle had given Nick strict orders about what he could eat for each meal as long as they were stuck in each other’s bodies. This was lunch. He knew he’d be hungry soon after, but he smiled as he told himself it would all be over soon. In a few days, they’d return to the lab that did this, and they’d swap back. He didn’t think switching bodies would change much, but living the live of someone else actually proved to be quite challenging. Danielle’s daily routine was just so much different from his. It ha been part of the experiment; he had to spend his time as she would. That meant getting up early to go workout, eating the meals she would eat, and even doing her job. Another smile came across his face; she probably had a harder time with his job than he did with hers. Doing Danielle’s job felt almost like a vacation to him; if only he was able to chow down on just a little more food!

Tracking

Andrew had been here by the tracks several times since the Great Shift happened. He would sit on the tracks until just before the train got there. He often thought of just staying put, but he had obviously never gone through with it. He just found being someone else depressing and disorienting. It didn’t help that everyone kept telling him how lucky he was, how beautiful his new body was, and things like that. He knew his new body was good-looking, but he never wanted to look good; he had certainly never wanted to be a woman. Yet now he was both of those things. He saw the train coming and slowly stood up to get out of the way, once again. He paused for a minute, telling himself that this might be the time he stayed on the tracks as the train passed. Then he wondered if the whole depression thing was due to the fact that this new body might have a chemical imbalance in the brain. He stepped off the tracks and watched the train pass.

Monica was the type of student who would arrive late and sit in the back of class. Sometimes she wouldn’t show up at all. Then one day, it all changed. Monica arrived in class even before the teacher and was sitting front and center, eager to take notes. The whole class, including the teacher, was a bit shocked by her sudden change of behavior. What none of them realized was that wasn’t really Monica anymore. Sure, it was her body, but inside that body was the mind of a guy named Will. Will lived nearby. He was bright and talented, but his family was too poor to pay for college. Luckily, Will was very, very smart. He had invented a body switching machine, and he had used it to steal Monica’s body. To Will, it seemed like a perfect trade. After all, it seemed Monica didn’t even want to attend classes. He’d do that for her; heck, he’d live her entire college life. Of course, all this knowledge would be nothing without the diploma to back it up, so he’d have to continue being Monica after college, for the rest of his life.

Silly

Arthur had always found his sister to be a bit of a pain with horrid taste. When he decided to attend her wedding, his plan was simply to sit in the back and laugh quietly to himself about how gaudy the entire thing was. His plan had to change when the Great Shift struck a week before the wedding. Despite everyone being in new bodies, his sister insisted on things going on as scheduled. Of course, many guests canceled (or simply couldn’t be found) including many of the bridesmaids. However, it seemed that Arthur had swapped into a body that was just the right size to make up for one of the missing bridesmaids. His sister demanded that he squeeze himself into one of the dresses. He felt so silly; this thing looked like it should be at a prom and not a wedding. He felt stupid even just trying it on. Then there was getting his hair and makeup done with his sister, which made him feel even sillier. It was hard to hold back the laughs, especially with his sister now inside the body of a burly 50 year old male biker in a refitted mermaid gown. He may have felt silly, but she looked much sillier!

Revenge was such a delicious taste; probably even better than the hamburger Fred was eating right now or the ice cream and soda he had for breakfast. He had been a mostly unremarkable guy for most of his life until he learned he had the magical ability to swap bodies with anyone. He used that power to get back at the women who made fun of him in his youth. The better looking they were, the more he enjoyed gorging on food to fatten them up. Natalie had been quite cruel to him as a kid and now she was particularly hot. He was so eager and more than happy to ruin her figure.

Lies

As he lied through his teeth to Mei by saying he knew nothing about how they swapped bodies, Peter was also doing everything in his power not to squeeze the breasts now on his chest. He often talked with his hands, and everytime they came close, he just wanted to give a little pinch, but he stopped himself. He knew that might give away that he was lying.

Mei looked at him with suspicion. Peter was a terrible liar, but she had always thought of him as just this really weird guy. She’d probably usually be able to tell that he was lying, but she was so concerned with that fact that there was a completely weird dude now inside of her body that she just kept chalking everything up to his weirdness with concern over how he was going to embarrass her or her reputation. Until she could clear her head a little, Peter was going to be able to keep lying.

Moving

Gavin stood outside his apartment as the movers headed in and out, loading up the van. If this had been two months ago, Gavin could’ve done this all himself. Of course, two months ago, there would’ve never been a reason for him to move. That was before the Great Shift, the massive worldwide body swapping event that caused him to end up in the body of a woman. His wife had a new body as well, but she remained female. At first, their relationship stayed mostly the same. But as the weeks passed, Gavin began to embrace his new femininity more and more. It started with a few little things; Gavin saw a cockroach in the kitchen and shrieked. He began to put on make up, dress in high heels and skirts, go the beauty salon and get manicures, and so on. The thing that finally ended it was when she realized how much Gavin really wanted to be with a man.

So now Gavin stood outside, truly ready to begin his new life after the Shift. He thought about helping out the movers for a minute -- sort of remembering a little piece of his old self -- then he thought he might break a nail, so he just stayed watching.

Couldn't Find a Thing to Wear

The phone had been ringing off the hook for over twenty minutes before David finally picked it up. A booming, angry voice spoke from the other end, “Where the hell are you?”

“I’m still getting ready,” David lamented, “I couldn’t seem to find a thing to wear.”

“I loaned you three suitcases worth of stuff last night. You needed to pick out ONE outfit to change into this morning so we could go back to the lab to get our bodies swapped back.”

“I’m sorry. It’s just so hard to pick out something that looked just right. I honestly have a brand new appreciation for women and--”

The voice on the other end cut him off, “Just get down here now in whatever you’re currently wearing. If we miss this appointment, we are going to be stuck in each other’s bodies until they have another opening.”

David thought about it. Maybe being late and stuck in Heather’s body a little longer might not be a bad thing.

Phones

Everyone in the elevator was so buried in checking their phones that they didn’t notice the change at first. It was Richard who first looked up after noticing all his emails changed from people he knew to names he didn’t recognize. When he looked up, he saw his own body standing there. Then he looked down to see the woman’s body he had been sharing the elevator with just a moment before. But no one freaked out about swapping bodies, they all just exchanged phones and went back to being engaged in apps, email, and text messages. They could all worry about the whole body swapping thing once they had finished being busy with their phones.

Slipping

Ryan paused to look at the jewelry on sale in the window display at the mall. He was so tempted to buy a necklace or maybe some earrings, but he had to stop himself. It wasn’t that he couldn’t afford it, he just could tell that he was mentally slipping. He didn’t think there would be much harm when his latest invention switched the brains of him and him wife, but as he made the repairs to get them back in his own body, he often found his mind wandering to things more his wife’s liking than his own. For instance, he found himself distracted by celebrity gossip just yesterday, and then this morning, it had been his wife who picked up the wrench and started working to fix the machine. He wondered how she had any idea what she was doing...but he soon realized he didn’t! He felt worthless, but his wife had soon asked for him to get a part at the mall. Ryan used to run in and run out of the mall, but this time he lingered. For several hours, he just window shopped. It wasn’t until the jewelry that he finally caught himself, but by that point, he had been at the mall almost the entire day!

Amusement

The sign in front of The Switcher had read that the ride wasn’t for pregnant women or people with heart conditions. Richard was never one to listen to warnings. He figured he had reached an age where he could do anything he wanted. He was a cranky old man who just didn’t care. Of course, he had no idea of what the thrill ride would do. As it spun around, it felt like his life was literally being sucked out of him. He wondered if he should have heeded that warning! He was sure this was it! But then there was a quick snap, a feeling like everything was going to be alright as the ride slowed down. It was when he got off that he noticed something different. His skin was smooth instead of wrinkled, it was now dark instead of light, and he was a woman instead of a man! He looked over to see his old body still sitting in the ride. It was still and motionless. Richard didn’t want to question his second chance. As attendants started to care for his former body, he made a break for it. He exited the amusement park just as he heard the sound of ambulances in the distance.

It was a little difficult for Henry to take his girlfriend's situation seriously. After falling off a horse they were riding together, he regained consciousness to find himself in her body. He assumed she was in his, but he just couldn't find her anywhere. Then he saw a strange sight, his old body drinking water from a puddle. When Henry approached, his body made all sorts of horse noises, which led him to only one conclusion. His girlfriend must be in the horse's body! He laughed the entire way back to the ranch, and couldn't help but giggle even as he tried to figure out how to help her.

Best Summer Job Ever

Paul was convinced this was going to be the worst Summer job ever. He had been working at the resort for two weeks now and had been there long hours, sweating his ass off in the hot sun. He had to clean the pool, carry heavy coolers with drinks for guests, and got yelled at constantly by staff and guests. He was just about ready to quit when the Great Shift happened. Instead of cleaning the pool, he suddenly found himself relaxing beside it instead. Knowing that he'd get yelled at for sitting on the job, he figured he would get back to work. It turned out the whole place was in chaos from the massive bodyswapping. As it turned out, Paul was in the body of one of the wealthiest guests' daughters. When she saw him trying to work, she demanded he sit back down! She simply wouldn't allow her body to do manual work, and she offered Paul a great deal of money to ensure he do nothing while he was in her body. This was the best summer job ever!
