Face Time

It hadn’t been long since the Great Shift, and Asher was still adjusting to being a woman. Fortunately, his sister was always only just a FaceTime away.

She had talked him through just about everything, from taking off and putting on a bra, to wearing makeup, and dealing with his first period. Today, he was asking for advice on what sort of top he should wear with his outfit.

“Oh, wow,” She said as Asher moved his phone to show off the rest of his outfit, “That’s actually a really nice skirt! Where are you going?”

Asher blushed, “Well...I have a date! And it’s sort of weird, because it’s with myself...or the body I had before the Shift. We’ve been talking and he is...she is? I actually don’t know what their gender was before the Shift. That doesn’t matter, right?”

“As long as you’re happy! Now show me some of the tops you’ve picked out as potentials!”

Body Porting had replaced airline travel about 10 years ago. The idea was simple: Your brain could be teleported hundreds of miles away in an instant into the body of someone living where you wanted to go. If you booked your trip early enough, you often got your pick of bodies. A last minute trip meant you were more likely to be randomly assigned. Of course, Jonathan wished he had booked his trip for his friend’s wedding far sooner. With his last minute ticket, he ended up in the body of a woman, which meant he’d be wearing a dress to the wedding, and he’d probably be get hit on by some of his friend’s drunken relatives...

First in Line

Steve had always wondered what it would be like to be a woman. In his teens, he learned that someone had actually invented a bodyswitching machine, and by the time he turned 21, stores were starting to open up. He was the first in line when one arrived in his town, and he quickly found a woman who agreed to swap with him. But after only one night, he realized that he felt even more awkward as a woman than he ever did as a man. He sat outside the store the next morning, waiting for it to open. He begged for a refund, to get his money back. But the woman was perfectly satisfied in his body, which meant he was stuck!

Then they both remembered that the medallion wouldn't work if one of the people was pregnant. Evan gulped. He had enjoyed the previous night, but he didn't want to spend the next nine months as his own wife, and he especially didn't want to do it pregnant...and the thought of giving birth sent chills down his spine. However, he also knew he really had no choice in the matter.

Barney was having a hard time understanding about why all his friends raved so much about a vacation on Exchange Island. He arrived two days ago and got swapped into the body of a sexy woman. While he had to admit an initial feeling of joy, he found it difficult to adjust to his new smaller, weaker frame. The boobs on his chest made him feel all off-balance, and he found himself constantly tripping and falling over as a result. It was just so hard to adjust to being in a new body!

While practicing a basic ninja move, Hanzo couldn't believe that he fell backwards. This was worrisome. He had used a soul swapping spell to transfer his essense into a woman's body, but he should have retained his skills. Maybe he did something wrong? He was just worried that this might affect his upcoming mission. He would have to do a bit of extra training to prepare or research to enhance the magic of the soul swap...

After Gene got an F on his latest essay, he was furious. He felt like he didn’t deserve such a poor grade and set his sights on getting revenge on his teacher, Miss Gray. He wanted to get her fired, and he had the perfect scheme. He searched the internet all night before finding what he needed, a body swap spell. He cast it that night and woke up the next morning in Miss Gray’s body. He searched through her closet for the sluttiest outfit he could find. He felt so naked and exposed, but when he showed up to school in Miss Gray’s body wearing this, he was sure it would get her fired. Then again, he didn’t count on the strength of the teachers’ union.

This forced his own soul out of his body, and he had been living, trapped in the mansion, as a spirit since then, waiting for another to enter, so that he could steal there body. It was now time, three decades later when a woman entered. Buddy didn’t want to be female, but he was sick of being stuck in this mansion, trapped as a ghost. He  swirled his form around her and began the process of taking her body. Son he was in control, and her soul was pushed out. He left the mansion, happy to be in the flesh again.

Midterms

A spell found inside an old library book swapped the bodies of nerdy computer geek Walter and ditsy blond bimbo Tammi. Walter certainly couldn’t complain at first. He had never felt so beautiful or popular, but then he found out that Tammi was skipping all his classes. Even if she did attend, there would be no way for her to keep up with his advanced studies! If he didn’t get back to his own body soon, he would fail. He returned to the library. The spell had to be in one of these books. Now it was just a matter of finding it before his first midterm at 3PM.

The Ride

Liam had decided to enjoy some time to himself at a local amusement park and after enjoying some of the roller coasters, decided to try a new ride he had never noticed at the park before. The line wasn’t too long, and Liam was waiting behind a single mom and her four daughters.

It seemed each of the ride’s cars only held four people, so the woman had all her daughters get into one car, and the ride operator had her sit in the next one with Liam. The party behind Liam got into the next car.

Liam didn’t think much about it as the ride twisted, rolled, and shook on its set path. The lack of safety restraints really made it feel like you could shift just about anywhere.

As the ride ended, and Liam stood up, he felt disoriented. It took a few moments to realize why, but then he caught side of his own body leaving the ride. The daughters reacted angrily to what they thought was a strange man trying to take them away.

Realizing he was now the one in their mother’s body, he rushed over to assure the girls it was going to be okay. He explained that this man could be trusted and that “Mommy might have to go away for a while.”

The woman now inside Liam’s body looked at him with concern. Liam didn’t have any better answers. He didn’t want to take these children away from their mother, he knew he certainly couldn’t be a proper mother to them. It seemed like the only choice.

As the family walked away, Liam couldn’t take a moment to admire his new body, thinking it was in surprisingly good shape for having birthed four kids....

Ninja

With his lifetime of ninja training, Hanzo knew many tricks of stealth to attack his enemies unsuspectingly. His latest target was at a business in eastern Europe, where an unfamiliar asian man might cause suspicion. However, using a bit of meditation, he was able to swap his soul with a young Polish woman. No one would ever suspect a ninja in a body like this. It was simply one of his various tricks to get close to his targets...

Organ Donor

Ben was nervous about going to the hospital to donate a kidney. He had heard all sorts of horror stories about doctor's screwing up by performing the wrong operation or removing the wrong body part, but he knew donating an organ was the right thing to do. He never expected them to screw up like this! Instead of taking out his kidney in a routine procedure, the doctor's messed his paper work up and removed his brain for an experimental one! When he awoke, he was shocked to find himself in the body of one of the hospital's nurses, who had donated her body to science shortly before going braindead. It wouldn't have been so bad if the body they put his brain into was at least male! he wasn't sure how he'd cope with his new life as a woman!

He jumped up and shouted with joy after finding out that he was in the body of a seriously sexy woman. Wearing only a small bikini allowed him to immediately appreciate his curves. He was screaming so loud that many were paying more attention to him than their own new bodies.

Taking Stock

It probably would’ve been perfectly reasonable for Grant to panic when he found himself in someone else’s body, but he instead decided to take stock of his situation. For starters, he was now very obviously a woman. He also seemed to be in a very large apartment. He turned on a television and ended up hearing about “The Great Shift” -- which certainly explained the body swapping. He found a large walk-in closet with numerous shoes inside. This was much to his relief, as the heels on his feet were becoming unbearable. He quickly took them off, knowing he could change into a pair of sneakers if he wanted to go outside for further exploration. He just needed to find some keys first, as he certainly didn’t want to be locked out with no place to go while he was in an unfamiliar body...

Magic Book

“Why the hell would they have this sort of book in the school library?” A frustrated Harrison asked as he frantically flipped through the pages of the book that contained a spell that swapped his body with Lauren.

“Maybe it’s supposed to teach lessons in tolerance and stuff?” Lauren asked in a casual manner. Unlike Harrison, she wasn’t bothered by the swap.

“This book isn’t about tolerance! It’s pure black magic! There are hexes and curses, and the damned thing swapped our bodies! If we don’t swwap back before the game tonight, you’re probably going to screw up my hopes of a college scholarship.”

Marriage Counselor

Noah and his wife, Alana, had been seeing a marriage counselor for about a decade now. It had helped keep their relationship stable and strong. In their latest session, the councelor had recommend a brand new technology that they could use to further enhance their bond, a body swapper.

Noah questioned it. He never heard of it before, but Alana jumped on the idea. Noah didn’t want to seem like he was holding back, so he soon agreed as well. The counselor pulled out a device, and soon Noah was in Alana’s body and Alana was in Noah’s. The counselor told them they should spend a week as each other, doing whatever the other would do.

This meant Alana was now going to Noah’s job, and Noah was going to the grocery store and making dinner. As he walked through the aisles, he didn’t mind it, but he missed working. He guessed this was how Alana had felt when they divided the responsibilities this way.

After the week was up, he couldn’t wait to be back in his own body. But that morning, they got a phone call. The receptionist told them the counselor had gone missing. They asked about the body swapper, but the receptionist had no idea what they were talking about. It looked like they’d continue to be stuck as each other!

Bob looked at the text on his phone. It was Renee. Again. This has to be about the hundredth time she'd contacted him since the two had swapped bodies. It's not like she ever had any knowledge of how to switch back; she'd always just see if he had found a way to do so. Honestly, he had stopped looking for a way to get his own body back a long time ago. He loved being in Renee's body, and her constant pestering was just getting annoying.

Kent didn’t know what he was doing. He hoped he’d be back in his own body by now, but it had been two weeks and the researchers at the lab were no closer to figuring out how he had swapped bodies with Jennifer in the first place -- let alone finding a way for them to swap back.

And while he’d be feeling miserable the entire time, today he actually felt ill. Looking up his symptoms online, Kent discovered he might be about to get a period. Things were about to get worse.

He rushed to the store to buy a bunch of tampons. Ultra? Super Plus? Regular? What were all these? Sizes? It’s not like he could try them out in the store or anything, so he just threw a bunch into the basket. He’d figure it all out later; honestly though, he wish he didn’t have to figure out any of this stuff at all!

Desolate

Earl had been driving on the desolate road for miles without seeing another building or person when he saw her. He thought about stopping, but he knew picking up a hitchhiker was a bad idea. In hindsight, he wished he had stopped. As he continued to drive, an odd feeling came over him. Suddenly, he was now standing on the side of the road, watching his old truck drive off far into the distance. He looked down, recognizing the body as the woman he had just seen trying to hitchhike. Now he was the one standing on the side of the road, waiting for the next car to come around -- which he guessed would likely be quite a long time. In the interim, he was stuck out here with a very unfamiliar body!

Back to Work

Craig had been going the same way to work every day for the past ten years. Of course, today was slightly different than most. It was his first day returning since the Great Shift. That meant he and the rest of his co-workers would all be returning in new bodies. He wasn’t very comfortable with his new body, but he couldn’t complain either. Sure, he was a woman now, but he had gone from being 40 years old to returning to around 20. He had nothing against being 20 years younger! With businesses opening for the first time today since the Shift, he hadn’t yet been able to purchase more work-appropriate clothing, but a memo circulated via email stated that the dress code would be lax for the first week back. Still, he hoped to be able to head to a department store on his lunch break in order to pick up something a little more appropriate.

Carl leaned in closer to the mirror in order to get a better look. He still couldn’t believe the face looking back at him. He had felt the change as soon as it happened -- how could one not notice one’s body being completely different -- and he ran to the restroom. He had to think for a minute about which to go in. His instinct was the men’s room, but he ultimately decided on the women’s room based on his current gender. It seemed absolutely crazy that he could’ve suddenly switched bodies, but the delicate features reflecting back at him were undeniable!

Feeling Guilty

Henry knew he shouldn’t blame himself for the results of the Great Shift, but he couldn’t help but feel guilty. The woman’s body he swapped into was young and so healthy; how could he not feel bad for taking that from her? His own former body had previous had three heart attacks and a stroke; he had been nearing 90 years old. Yet now he was able to run a ten minute mile in the park. He just didn’t think it was fair to her. The least he could do was keep this body in shape, even if the exercise was a constant reminder of why he felt guilty...

Guess We Are

Ronald had walked about a mile down the desolate dirt road wearing uncomfortably tight jeans and even more uncomfortable high heels before he finally came upon a shack. A woman sat in front, holding a beer and looking rather annoyed.

“You gunna complain ‘bout this damned Great Shift thang too?” She asked before Ronald could say a word.

“Great Shift?” Ronald asked, hearing his high pitched voice for the first time.

“Yep. Yer the third person walking by askin’ ‘bout it. Guess we’ve all just swapped bodies. Heck, this ain’t my body either. I just found myself in this cabin in this chick’s body. Ain’t no TV or phone inside, but there was a fridge. This is the last beer though, so don’t expect me to do no sharin’. But yer welcome to sit a spell. I’m guessin’ you ain’t no real chick either.”

“Well, I am now,” Ronald sighed, “I guess we both are.”

“Yep, guess we are.” The woman said as she took a big gulp of beer.

It took Nick a while to accept that he had really swapped bodies with someone else. For almost a week, he kept expecting the trip to end and he’d be back in the warehouse. However, once he came to terms with the fact that the Great Shift was reality, he tried not to let his new body get int he way of his lifestyle. He still loved going to raves in odd warehouses or out in the dessert. It also didn’t take long for Nick to make sure his new body’s outfits matched his own sense of style, much to the chagrin of his new body’s original owner and her husband. None of their criticism mattered much to him, however. He just wanted to continue being himself.

Prom Envy

Todd couldn't believe that he had just pulled off that ruse! For the past few hours, he was bitching and moaning about how he had to go to his sister's prom wearing a stupid fancy dress simply because he was stuck in her body after the two had swapped. The truth of the matter was that he had been jealous of his sister, her date, and her fancy dress. He had found the spell that caused the swap; he was responsible for the whole thing. Of course, he couldn't let HER know that, so he had to pretend to be just as upset about it, if not more so. He knew that she wouldn't miss being seen at the biggest social event of the year, even if it was him in her body that was actually being seen.

Born Again

Rufus felt like such a fool. He had been taken in by that cult so easily. When they said they would baptize him so that he could be "born again" he never expected that it would be into a new body! Now with no identity of his own, he was a slave to the cult. Meanwhile, without Rufus's knowledge, they had given one of loyal, young cult members HIS life...in fact, the woman and Rufus had switched places. She sold all his thing, raided his bank account, and gave it all to the cult. She would do anything the cult said. As, you see, she had been suckered into the cult some years ago, befallen to a fate similar to Rufus's. She was just so glad to be back in a man's body after years of being stuck a woman.
