With businesses and offices starting to open back up again after The Great Shift, Justin thought about how things had been for him in the past few weeks since he found himself in a woman’s body. When he shifted, he luckily wasn’t far from his own home, so he made it back and just sort of stayed put. He had quite a bit of canned food, thought he also ordered delivery. For clothes, he sort of had to piece outfits together from things old girlfriends had left behind -- he actually had a considerable stash that he had never bothered to throw away. It was probably good that it was mostly things like workout pants, t-shirts, bras, panties, and even a pair of sneakers. Some things fit better than others, but it was still all mostly fine and reasonably comfortable. He had no idea what his actual size was, so he was hesitant to order clothes off the internet, and no stores had really reopened yet. That was tomorrow, when people like him would be back at work. People would see him and his new body for the first time. It was a little bit scary, but he was ready, wasn’t he?

The Apartment

In a flash, Doug found himself sitting in a completely unfamiliar apartment across the street. As if that wasn't weird enough, he also found himself in a woman's body! Everything about this told him that this was impossible! But if it happened to him, he couldn't be the only one, could he? He tried to turn on the TV for more info but found that this woman had no TV, and he didn't know the password for her internet. He hopped out onto the fire escape to see if he could see inside other apartments. If he saw others freaking out too, he knew he wasn't the only one.

Around the World

When the Great Shift happened, most people swapped bodies with someone within a few feet of them. Over 99% of people swapped with someone within a mile radius. Every now and again, someone swapped bodies with someone a considerable distance away.

Jason, for instance, found himself halfway across the globe in a new body as a result of the Great Shift. While most people were challenged by the fact that they found themselves in a new body, Jason had the added complication of trying to understand what was going on with no one around being able to explain in a language he knew that the same thing was happening to them. He felt lost and confused, and he knew he had nowhere to turn for help.

His only saving grace seemed to be due to the fact that he had swapped into a body located near a major tourist attraction, and he eventually found someone who could speak the same language.

Diet

The Great Shift had turned out okay for Jack; he ended up in the body of a super model. Her agent had practically demanded that Jack keep up with her career. That meant a new, glamorous lifestyle, which mostly wasn’t bad. There was only one aspect he didn’t enjoy. If he wanted to keep a super model body and a super model lifestyle, he needed a super model diet. Instead of the large portion of fried fast food he had been used to eating in his own body, he was now eating small bits of fish and steamed vegetables. He supposed it was a reasonable sacrifice in order to be able to live this life, but he still often craved being able to stuff this gorgeous face full of a greasy pizza or a fatty burger.

I had been your typical frat bro before the Great Shift. I enjoyed beers, parties, girls...you get the picture. Just about every single one of my frat brothers and I ended up swapping with women, about half from the sorority nextdoor. As you can imagine, we were pretty devistated about it. About a month in, I considered myself luckier than the rest of them. They had all had periods and the accompanying cramps, but I seemed to have avoided it all. I assumed I was now one of those women who just them irregularly or maybe even not at all. I started putting on weight, but I assumed I was still eating as thought I had my former body and this body’s metabolism couldn’t adapt. But by the time summer rolled around, it was obvious: I had not only swapped into the body of a woman, but I had swapped into the body of a pregnant woman! The doctors said my due date is in late August, and I hope to give birth and get back to school. If my frat brothers ever found out about this, I’d probably never hear the end of it.

Though the government did their best to get everyone's lives back, Michael always had an assistant take care of his personal information, so he had no way to identify himself to prove who he was. Henceforth, he had to take on the identity of the person he was (who never came forward). He was now Misty Gates, a cocktail waitress earning six dollars an hour--plus tips. It was a miserable new life...

Anything But Good

Nothing was going to stop Justin from attending the concert he had been looking forward to for months, not even his parents grounding him. He just needed to devise a plan for sneaking out that wouldn’t get him in any more trouble. In fact, if his parents checked in on him right now, they’d find his body sleeping in bed. That’s because he used a spell he found on the internet to steal the body of his older sister. He had waited until she had gone to sleep then cast the spell. He slipped into some clothes he had seen her go out in from time to time, and then snuck out of the house. If anyone was going to get into trouble tomorrow, it was going to be her! Thinking about that made Justin smile. She never got into trouble; for some reason their parents never seem to catch her doing any sort of bad thing. She wasn’t a goodie two shoes, but their parents sure thought she was. Luckily, tonight was about anything but being good!

Carly got a notification on her phone, and she checked it to find that she had a text from Aaron with an image attached. She reluctantly opened it and was instantly horrified. After the two had swapped bodies, she had no idea what he was going to do. However, the fact that the first thing he did when in her body was get her hair cut...and that he sent her a photo of it! Was he trying to goad her? Make her angry? Well, two could play at that game. She just needed to come up with a plan to do something horrible to his body as an appropriate revenge.

Andrew had gotten himself in quite a predicament. While on vacation, he was kidnapped by a mad scientist. The crazy old kook had chained up Andrew and several other tourists in his basement. Then two-by-two they were brought upstairs where they were placed into a mind switching machine before returning to the basement. Andrew was brought upstairs with a woman. They both struggled, but it was no use. They were soon returned to back to the basement but now in each other’s bodies. But Andrew had an idea. He told his fellow captive that he had a plan to escape, and he’d come back for them later so they could all figure out a way to switch back to normal. The next time the mad scientist came down, Andrew put on the biggest smile he could.

“Do you think you could let me go?” He asked to a very confused scientist, “Let me explain. I get why you don’t want to let everyone else go. You’re afraid they’ll come back and overpower you. But I’ve actually always dreamed of being a woman. I love this. I should probably be thanking you. Why would I ever come back for my own body? Come on. Let me go.”

Andrew was pretty convincing. In fact, once the scientist let him go, his fellow captives were worried if he was going to come back for them...

Relaxing

Brandon should've read the promotional material more carefully. He had gone to the spa after finding a flier. Work had been very stressful lately, and he this resort's material had promised to make him feel like a new man. Actually, had he read it closely, it said it would make him feel like a "new person." The not-so-subtle difference soon became apparent as waters from the spa's magical pool cascading upon him, transforming his body. Though Brandon had an initial sense of panic, it all soon faded away. At least the experience was relaxing.

Accident at the Chemistry Lab

When the school's chemistry lab caught on fire from a freak explosion, Ike ran for his life as it spread. The fire engulfed the school and a nearby parking lot, and Ike continued to run. Fire wasn't the only result of the explosion; however, a strange mixture of chemicals in the lab caused much of the student body to swap bodies. Ike, for instance, was running for his life, but inside the body of the school's head cheerleader, Tammy. He had hoped his own body was still alive, and that there would be a way to swap back someday.

It's Electric

He was in the basement of a mansion that belonged to Cheng Bei, the daughter of a Chinese businessman. Wires were connected in illogical manners, and connected improperly. He was fixing up the last one when a bolt of electricity shot up his arm. When he came to, he realized he was in Cheng's body! He rushed downstairs to find Cheng in his body also starting to waken. She explained the house was cursed, but she had never expected anything to come of it. She also started yelling something in Chinese before explaining that he would have to go to a fancy dinner tonight as her while she worked to reverse the curse. Cheng spent hours dressing Sam in appropriate clothing and makeup, but she sighed as she saw him sit like the low-class slob he was...

However, after things were sorted out, he laughed more at his sister. She was swapped with their Uncle Newton, a large, bald, bearded biker. Her soon-to-be-husband had swapped with the Maid of Honor. As he made his way to a back pew at the church, he knew it could've been worse...

Over the next few days, Steven began to adjust to his borrowed body. In fact, it was more relaxing than he could’ve ever imagined. It was one thing to take a vacation from work and all your troubles, it was another thing entirely to be literally taking a vacation away from yourself. He felt liberated. Of course, he knew it would all be over soon. He could see himself returning to the city and his job, but it was becoming harder and harder for him to see himself giving up this body! He began plotting ways to keep it. Maybe he could negotiate a settlement with the body’s owner or the resort operators. There had to be a way. Thinking about giving up this body was bringing back his stress. He knew keeping it would be the only way to control that permanently.

I had always been a bit of a dork. I never felt like I fit in. I was shy and just stayed closed off from most people. When everyone started working from home, I was more closed off than ever. I felt so alone.

He didn’t like being a woman; he didn’t like wearing her clothes either. He went through her jeans first, but she only owned two pairs. Most everything else in her closet was shirts and dresses. But he found another pair of pants in the back. They were shiny and sort of weird, but still seemed preferable to a skirt. He felt stupid as he sulked on the couch. He just wanted someone to find a way to reverse this whole body swapping mess.

Eugene was giddy as he looked at his reflection in the water. The spell had worked, and it was clear that he managed to steal Lisa’s body. The odd thing was that he actually didn’t feel all that different -- it was one of the lingering effects of the spell, so people didn’t get too shocked to suddenly be in a new body. For a moment he wondered if Lisa had even noticed she was now in his body, and how she might be reacting or what she was doing. Then he realized he didn’t much care. She could do whatever she wanted with his old body, it was hers now. And Lisa’s body was now his! He was so excited!

Steven had just started settling in to relax at the resort when he soon felt a sharp jolt. His vision had an odd shift, and he found himself down by the pool. He wondered if he had blacked out. It had happened at work from time to time; that was one of the reasons he needed this vacation. But then he looked down and discovered blacking out might be the least of his problems. He reached his hands around his body to try to cover up. For some reason, he now had a woman’s body! And one wearing a sexy silver swimsuit. He wondered if he was getting worse. If he had gone from blacking out to straight up hallucination. He rushed back to his room and began to do some research on the free wi-fi. There didn’t seem to be any sort of medical documentation for his condition, but he restarted his browser to see the homepage of the resort, Ihla Troca. He decided to translate the name into English, Exchange Island...searching that and he found all sorts of strange tales that told him he wasn’t having a hallucination! This was real!

New Normal

Crap! Graham’s wife would be home any minute; he couldn’t let her see him like this. He had only intended to use the site to transform his body for a few moments; it just so quickly turned to an hour. Now he needed to find the site again in order to transform back. He didn’t remember closing out of the site, but it wasn’t open in any of the tabs on his browser. It didn’t appear to be in his history either. And, as a final kicker, he couldn’t recall the name of the website no matter how hard he tried. It was almost as if he hadn’t visited the site at all. His heart sank further when he loked over from his laptop to the shelf to see his wedding picture. Instead of he and his wife; it was the woman he now was an a man. Gwen realized her heart was now racing. She had to transform back before her husband got home. But transform back into what? What was she worrying about? Everything was normal, wasn’t it?

Long Week

Ethan still couldn’t believe that he was going to be stuck in his sister’s body for a full week. It was only day two, and he was already stick of this body swap. It might not have been so bad, but his sister was pretty controlling about the whole thing. In a way, he couldn’t blame her; it was her body, after all. But she had also laid out each and every outfit for him to wear for the week, given him strict times on when to wear each, and demanded that he take a photo of himself and send it to her to prove that he was actually wearing what she asked. And she would often ask again at random times for a second photo, just to prove he hadn’t changed out of it. That’s what really got to him; he didn’t enjoy wearing any of her clothes. They were too tight, or revealing, or they just pinched him in the wrong way. It was going to be a long week.

It had only been about two weeks since the Great Shift, but Joel knew that female hormones were already taking over for his common sense. He just couldn't help himself from doing certain things. While he was out at the mall recently, it wasn't the hot men who were catching his eye, but all these amazing shoes! It was taking all of his willpower not to buy a half dozen pairs or so! Psychic for Free

Stewart guessed this was one of those situations where you get what you pay for. He had gone to see a fortune teller for a little bit of advice. She was running a special promotion, which was basically getting a psychic for free. A free reading just seemed to good to be true, and sure enough, once she started using her crystal ball, it glowed all weird. Before Stewart got his reading, before he could even react, he was knocked out. He awoke all alone, but the oddest thing was that he had swapped bodies with the fortune teller. It must have been some sort of scam, a trick just to steal someone’s body, and she had probably seen a bunch of other people before she decided on him. He tried not to panic. He had seen her do the swap. Maybe he could duplicate it. He felt awkward siting there in her body as he lay hands upon the crystal ball as he had seen her do. He managed to get a little glow, but not enough. He could keep trying. This was probably going to be his only chance at getting back to his own body.

Rob hadn't taken college very seriously so far. He often showed up to only a few classes and instead spent time at the gym. It made sense to him. After all, he was here on a lacrosse scholarship. But one morning, he was working out when he suddenly found he was no longer at the gym. He was in the statistics class where he was actually scheduled to be. But he wasn't just there, he was there in someone else's body. Sitting in the front of the class, wearing a yellow dress and pink turtleneck, he figured it out quickly. He was in the body of that nerdy Asian girl in his class. His grabbed his head to feel her hair on his head. How would he survive like this? He certainly wasn't smart enough for a scholarship. The girl clearly had no athletic ability. What the heck was he going to do!?

Wally had commited many crimes in his life and had a rap sheet a mile long, but nothing compared to his latest theft: stealing the body of a beautiful woman. It should've been impossible, but somehow he did it. Now he had the perfect disguise, and with his past criminal record, his old body would never be able to follow him as he traveled abroad. A few weeks ago, he had been swapped into the cabbie’s body, and after reading the guy’s journal, he discovered that he now had one shot to swap himself. As a result, he mostly tried to pick up fares on Wall Street. One day, he picked up a guy he knew would be perfect. He wore a power suit, talked business on his phone, and even had a personal assistant with him. The assistant was a quiet woman, a bit uptight and stuffy. When the pair exited the cab, he knew it was his chance. He spoke the magic words, “Have a nice day, Mis...” But before he could add the final “-ter” syllable, the magic took effect, and he ended up swapping bodies with the young assistant. He immediately tried to hail the cab again, much to the confusion of the man he was with. But after a minute, Zach knew the cab was long gone, and he was stuck with this woman’s life. He started to cry. The man tried to console him, but how could he even begin to explain what had just happened to him?
