It didn't take long for Jason to fall asleep on the train. Benjamin had brought his friend along hoping that he'd have someone to talk with, but that didn't seem possible now. But just because his buddy was asleep didn't mean he had to be bored. This was an opportunity to test out a strange new app he had downloaded.

Benjamin had downloaded it from the dark web and it promised to change reality. He thought that meant in an augmented reality sort of way (but he was oh-so-wrong). He started by snapping a photo of his sleeping friend and then started applying some filters. He laughed as he switched up the gender and racial features to see what Jason would look like as an Asian woman.

As he was doing so, Jason slumped over onto Benjamin's shoulder. It startled Benjamin he looked over to see an Asian woman now beside him that matched exactly the image on his phone. Benjamin would be shocked if he wasn't so fascinated! He was also sure Jason would be pissed off to wake up like this. But then he explored deeper into the app and found he could not only change the subject's body, but also their mind. He boosted sliders for personality traits like "docile" and "submissive" as well as things like “kind” and “forgiving." There was a comments field at the bottom for additional traits, and he added "Benjamin's girlfriend." Then he scrolled back up to the personality traits and moved up the slider for "horny” as far as it could go.

Kiss

Connor knew he only had himself to blame. Genevieve had asked him not to kiss her at midnight on New Year’s Eve, but he did it anyway. The kiss triggered magic that swapped their bodies. Genevieve didn’t mind being in Connor’s body, but Connor didn’t want to be a woman. Genevieve broke the bad news that they couldn’t swap back, but told him that he could swap with a different guy with another kiss if he did it before the sun came up. So Connor puckered up and went out on the streets with a mission. After a few hours, he was still unsuccessful. Too many guys were with their girlfriends, a few more were just too drunk. Connor was close a few times, but chickened out feeling weird kissing another guy (even if he was a woman at the moment). He realized finding someone to kiss shouldn’t be hard, especially on New Year’s, but for some reason it was!

Math Class

Mr. McLaughlan had always been known as the toughest math teacher in the school. Students always used to avoid getting put in his class, but these days the exact opposite was true. Why? Well, about two years ago when the Great Shift happened and everyone in the world swapped bodies with someone else, Mr. McLaughlan swapped bodies with Chloe Andrews. Chloe had been set to graduate that year and was easily the hottest girl in school. Time passing had been even kinder to Chloe’s body, and Mr. McLaughlan kept excellent care of it. There was something the male students just seemed to love about being lectured at in math by an attractive 20 year old. Mr. McLaughlan used this to his every advantage.

Swap Night

The invention of the body swapper changed so much about the world. It became common for clubs to have Swap Nights, where everyone in the club would swap bodies randomly at a set time. It wasn’t uncommon for people to sneak out with their new bodies before swapping back. Gordon was pretty sure that’s what happened to him tonight. He couldn’t find his own body anywhere around. Not that he particularly cared since he was certainly enjoying the body of the woman he ended up in tonight. And his body had been stolen at previous Swap Nights; it usually turned up several days later at most. That just meant he could enjoy this body in the meantime, and he was certainly planning on enjoying it to its fullest extent.

The Cube

What was his name again? Kevin? Aiden? Something like that. He was pretty sure he was a he, despite his current body -- then again, maybe he was originally a she; it had been so long that it was hard to remember. The professor had captured him so long ago that he didn’t even remember the details. But he could clearly remember the procedure of what the professor did each and every time. He’d wake up in his cube with his body in a form suiting the professor’s need. Last time, he had woken as a burly lumberjack to chop down some trees. After his task was done, he’d return to stasis in his cube. The pattern would repeat, and each time he’d wake up in a different body. Judging from his current form, he could only guess what the professor’s “needs” were right now; he was pretty sure this wasn’t going to be a pleasant time. He could vaguely recall the last time he was in a sexy female body, which was shortly after the professor had enhanced the properties of Viagra to last extra long. He was sure it was going to be something like that again. He sighed as he got out of his cube to tend to the professor’s needs.

Slipping

Ryan paused to look at the jewelry on sale in the window display at the mall. He was so tempted to buy a necklace or maybe some earrings, but he had to stop himself. It wasn’t that he couldn’t afford it, he just could tell that he was mentally slipping. He didn’t think there would be much harm when his latest invention switched the brains of him and him wife, but as he made the repairs to get them back in his own body, he often found his mind wandering to things more his wife’s liking than his own. For instance, he found himself distracted by celebrity gossip just yesterday, and then this morning, it had been his wife who picked up the wrench and started working to fix the machine. He wondered how she had any idea what she was doing...but he soon realized he didn’t! He felt worthless, but his wife had soon asked for him to get a part at the mall. Ryan used to run in and run out of the mall, but this time he lingered. For several hours, he just window shopped. It wasn’t until the jewelry that he finally caught himself, but by that point, he had been at the mall almost the entire day!

Chase

Neither Ralph nor Claudia had noticed each other when they were in the park, but it was hard to ignore the crazy man with what looked like a toy ray gun. He was going around aiming that weird toy at everyone, but both Ralph and Claudia were shocked when he actually zapped them with it, resulting in the pair swapping bodies. This was, of course, something neither of them could be oblivious to; they quickly began to run after the odd guy.

Claudia could really feel Ralph’s age as she ran. Things hurt in ways she would never had anticipated. Ralph, o the other hand, had difficulty with Claudia’s clothes. Running in heels was terribly painful, and he was sure the dress would flip up and expose Claudia’s underwear. Still, they had no choice but to try to push through it. There was no other choice but to catch up with that crazy man and confront him.

Honeymoon

“Don’t worry about it, Janet; I warned you before we got married that my mom was going to do this. It’s one of her weird traditions that happens to all the couples in my family. A spell is cast on the newlyweds to swap bodies for the first 48 hours of marriage. I know it’s not exactly how you wanted to kick off our honeymoon, but it’s not like we have much of a choice,” Kevin softly explained to his worried wife.

“I just didn’t know how weird it would feel to be a guy -- to be you,” Janet replied, “I just want my body back.”

“And you will soon. We’ll both be back to normal in less than two days now. Just try to enjoy yourself until then. l’ll do whatever it takes to make you happy.”

Donor

Walter knew the next few months weren’t going to be easy. After his diagnosis, he expected to leave his wife a widow. But his doctor offered an unconventional hope. If possible, Walter’s brain could be transplanted into a new body. It would depend on finding a donor, a body that was compatible with proper paperwork or next of kin and a brain dead status despite being otherwise healthy. Walter never expected that donor to be a woman.

It would take time for his brain to connect to his nerve endings. He’d have to adapt to being a woman. Thankfully, he still had his wife by his side, who loved him no matter what body he was in.

Dumpster Dive

Eric knew Mallory had thrown the Medallion of Zulu into the trash; he knew the trash was now in one of these dumpsters. He could jump in to fish it out, digging through trash for hours. He’d probably find it eventually, but was it worth it? Even if he found it, he’d never convince Mallory to swap back with him. She wanted his body, and there was nothing he could do to convince her otherwise. He could try to trick her somehow, but he couldn’t even begin to formulate a plan. He could try to find someone else to swap with, but most people he could think of would be a step down from being Mallory. Maybe the best option would be just to continue as her? He could just leave the medallion in that dumpster and just accept this was who he now was. Of course, there was still something tempting about having that power on hand...

Big Surprise

Adam hadn’t been exactly thrilled with the body he swapped into as a result of the Great Shift. He often used words like “nerdy” or “homely” to desribe the woman he ended up as. He hated the thick glasses he needed to put on just to see, and the closet full of frumpy clothes he discovered in her room.

But it was several months later when he got the big surprise. He was pregnant! And it seems he had discovered this fact a little too late, so he would have to bring the baby to term. The thought of giving birth still seemed very puzzling to him (though he imagined any mystery surround it would go away soon, for obvious reasons), but what was even more puzzling to him was that anyone would make a baby with this woman!

The Button

A strange box had arrived one day addressed to Amy and Jeff. The two were roommates who had moved in together shortly after college, but they had never gotten anything that was addressed to both of them before.

Inside the box was a button with a note. The note explained that the button had the power to swap Amy and Jeff with a random pair of bodies. It mentioned the ability to potentially swap with famous people like musicians, athletes, or actors. It could be pressed once a day. Amy and Jeff thought it was a joke. But after a night of drinking, they began talking. Amy laughed that it might be fun to become Taylor Swift; Jeff said he might want to be LeBron James. They decided to press the button. They forgot the note said “random.”

Their first press swapped them into the bodies of a married couple in Tulsa, who were overweight and impoverished. Neither wanted to stay like that, so they pressed it again the next day, and they both became junkies living in a drug house. They kept pressing it day after day, and they were never in bodies that they enjoyed.

After several months, they were set to press it again, but Jeff stopped Amy. “Don’t do it,” He said, “These are the best bodies we’ve been in for weeks. I’m not sure it’s going to get any better.”

“But I’m 50 years old!” Amy protested, “And a guy! I don’t want to be a guy!”

“Do you think I want to be this woman? Or a woman at all? I’ve been nothing but women for the past week! And most of the bodies have been elderly, like 60 or 70. These are the youngest and best bodies we’ve had for some time. If you press it again, the next bodies we end up in could be dead within 24 hours. Don’t press it Amy...Don’t!”

Lauren felt dizzy after getting off the amusement park ride. Something about it was much more intense than usual. As the dizziness settled down, she flipped out once she realized she was now in the body of some random guy! She desperately began to search the park for her former body; she finally found it as night fell. It was sitting on a bench holding an odd device.

“Give me back my body!” Lauren demanded.

“I’m afraid that’s impossible,” The man now in her body replied, “Our swap was a test -- a successful test! But I have placed pieces in the park, which will trigger a massive swapping event for everyone in the park. Well, everyone over there on that side of the park. I’ve quite taken to your body and I don’t plan on giving it up. But I think if you rush over there, you might be lucky enough to get a better body than my former balding, middle aged one.”

“Why the hell would you do this?” Lauren cried.

“It’s an amusement park, is it not? This is how I amuse myself. Now, you’d better hurry. I really think you’ll want to take your chances amongst the chaos that’s about to happen...”"

“Who was she?” Lawrence asked looking down at the frozen woman in the glass box.

“No idea,” The man working at the Cryogenic Center replied, “People have been frozen here for years. We’ve lost a lot of records. We’ve had a lot of screw ups. This one, for instance. She’s one of the one whose brain just sort of melted inside the body. But, you know, its one of the ways we’ve pivoted as a business. We can sell the bodies to people like you.”

“You mean the sick and dying?” Lawrence sighed as he took another pill from the jar in his pocket.

The man laughed, “I mean the rich. Most of the people who come here ain’t like you. They ain’t coughing and wheezing or popping pills. Well, they may be popping pills but not to stay alive. Sometimes they buy, sure. But often times, they rent the bodies for a while, just to do stuff without consequences. Though a lot of times, what they do with the rented bodies -- let’s just say they don’t get their deposits back.”

Lawrence looked down at the woman again, “She deserves better than that.” There was a long pause before he added, “So, yeah, I’ll be her.”

“In that case, you go get ready in that room over there, and I’ll prep her up. The doctor will be in shortly to operate the equipment to transfer your brain into her body. Just a fair warning, the skin might stay blue for a few hours while you fully thaw.”

Brian could hardly move. His feet were bound together and his hands were tied to a chair. He was able to look down and see that he was certainly in someone else's body -- as breasts weren't exactly a normal thing for him to see when he looked down -- but he wasn't sure exactly who at first. A look around the room revealed his own body typing into a computer in what was probably in one of the university's science labs. He had a pretty good guess who he swapped bodies with based on all the evidence.

"Hyojin?" He asked to see his former body turn around with a smile.

She nodded. Hyojin was his ex-girlfriend. Whereas Brian was seem as a big man on campus; Hyojin was a bit of a nerd. When Brian's friends started asking about their dating, he denied it, made up excuses, and mocked her. When the word got back to Hyojin, she had been furious. She broke up with; he thought that was the end of it.

"You really hurt me, you know?" She asked, "I was absolutely humiliated. Now it's time to settle the score."

"But why swap our bodies? Why tie me up?"

"No one would believe me in my body, but if I run around in your body talking about how I wet the bed or eat your own sh*t or something worse! It'll stick. Then I'll switch back, and you'll be the miserable one for a change."

"But you can't --" Brian didn't have time to say much before Hyojin darted out the door.

Brian struggled for about 20 minutes before one of Hyojin's classmates entered. She had no clue why her friend was tied up in a chair. And Brian figured he had two options: (1) He could convince this woman to untie him. Pretty simple. He could take Hyojin's life after she ruins his. Or (2) he could convince this classmate to sit in the other chair. The controls for the swapping were right by his fingertips. He just needed another body in the other seat. He wouldn't have to deal with his ruined life or Hyojin's. But it's not like he knew anything about this other woman -- though that was almost kind of a plus...

Art

Makeup had been one of the hardest things for Frederick when the Great Shift first struck. He figured when he got stuck in a woman’s body, he should embrace things like that, but it was actually really hard! Getting the eyeliner to look good and to get it not to smudge; it took practice. He set about to get better. After about two months in, he had to admit to himself that he was finally getting the hang of it. In fact, better than getting the hang of it, he actually had it down perfectly. There wasn’t an eyelash out of place or a single stray mark. He had mastered the art of makeup, and he felt a weird sense of pride about it...

Return Trip

When he arrived on Exchange Island, Ryan didn’t swap into a new body right away. It took a few hours before he found himself on the beach wearing a bikini in a woman’s body. He figured leaving would be similar; that he might not get his own body back right away. Even after getting on the plane and taking off, he just wasn’t worried. That is, until he talked to other passengers and discovered he was the only one that hadn’t swapped back into his own body. Quickly, he jumped up to ask a stewardess. He was keenly aware of how feminine he ran, and he realized how well he had adapted to being female on his short trip to the resort. The stewardess confirmed with him that he should’ve swapped back. In fact, he should have said something sooner. They were so far away now that he might never find a way back to his own body. If they returned, he’d just swap again and then swap back to this body when it was all over. His jaw dropped. That couldn’t be possible! He couldn’t be stuck as a woman for the rest of his life, could he?

Two Steps

“Holy crap! How do you walk in these things?” Michael screamed as he started to topple over after taking a mere two steps. Luckily, Vivian was there to catch him.

“I’ve had ten or so years of experience,” Vivian replied, “You’ve been wearing heels now for what? Ten minutes or so? And this is your first time standing in them. You’ll just have to get used to it.”

“Can’t we just use the machine to switch back now?”

“And fry both of our brains and become vegetables? No thanks! Our brains need time to settle, otherwise they won’t make it through the process again and we’ll be left braindead.”

“Look, I’m glad the test was successful, and that your machine was actually able to swap bodies. But how long are you saying I’m going to be trapped in your body?”

“If we wait until tomorrow, the chances of our brains making it is fifty-fifty. If we wait a week, there’ll be less than a one percent chance of anything going wrong.”

“So you’re saying I’m stuck in short skirts and heels for a week?”

“I know you don’t like my fashion choices -- ”

“No, I love your fashion choices, just not when I’m the one who has to wear them. I guess I’ll cope, but you got to switch us back the second you think it’s safe, okay?”

“Okay...”

At the Mall

Joe realized he probably should’ve made better small talk with this woman while she was in the cab. All he knew was that she had asked to go to the mall; he didn’t know why. Now, thanks to the magic of the taxi he had been driving, he was now her...in her body at the mall. The same thing happened to him a few weeks back, when the former driver had stolen his body. Of course, he had been taking the cab home at the time; it was probably easy for the person who ended up in his body. But now Joe was in this body, at the mall for some reason. She likely needed something; he didn’t know what. Then he would need to find his way home. He certainly had no idea where she lived. Things might actually get a little tougher as time went on...

Like Before

Tim watched his brother Dave sit down in front of the TV and play video games. He knew it had been hard for Dave since the accident. Sure, the doctors saved his brother’s life after the car crash, but they did it by transplanting his brain into the body of a 40 year old mother of two. It was an experimental procedure that everyone was legally required to keep quiet about. That meant Dave ha to mostly continue to act like the woman he appeared to be. It was only on some days when her husband was at work and her two kids at school that he was able to check in with Tim and other members of his original family. And most days he did that were much like today. He didn’t say much; he just tried to do something he had enjoyed before the accident.

New Stomach

A few weeks ago, Colin found himself in the body of a beautiful woman thanks to the Great Shift. He didn’t quite see a reason to act in any different way just because he had a new body, so once his favorite restaurant was open again, he decided to pig out on his favorite burger. He took a bite and was a little disappointed. He realized it must be because his taste buds were now different.

He still ate as much as he could.

However, he did notice that he got filled up faster. It was all so weird to him, but he guessed it made sense. New body, new taste buds, and a new stomach...

Desolate

Earl had been driving on the desolate road for miles without seeing another building or person when he saw her. He thought about stopping, but he knew picking up a hitchhiker was a bad idea. In hindsight, he wished he had stopped. As he continued to drive, an odd feeling came over him. Suddenly, he was now standing on the side of the road, watching his old truck drive off far into the distance. He looked down, recognizing the body as the woman he had just seen trying to hitchhike. Now he was the one standing on the side of the road, waiting for the next car to come around -- which he guessed would likely be quite a long time. In the interim, he was stuck out here with a very unfamiliar body!

About to Get Some Bad News

Leo remembered being younger. Thirty or so years ago flying was the only option for traveling long distances. But you waited in hour long security lines for a flight that itself could take several more hours. Now it was possible to travel around the globe in a matter of a few minutes thanks to bodyporting. Granted, it had its own drawbacks. Since only one’s brain was teleported to the new location, you’d be spending your trip in the body of someone else. Leo certainly didn’t mind this aspect. In fact, it wasn’t uncommon for him to find himself in a body much younger than his own -- for instance, he couldn’t imagine the body he swapped with this time was any older than 25. You depending on them to pack their bags in accordance with your prior requests. Leo had instructed the person he swapped with to pack casual clothes, which she obliged with. Then there was the return trip. In order to swap back to your own body, you needed to visit a bodyporting hub. This depended on the person temporarily in your body also showing up on time. It was always possible for someone to be late. In this case, Leo had been waiting for quite a long time. It was even a more infrequent occurrence when your original body didn’t show and any attempts to get in touch were met with silence. Leo was about to be given that news any second now, and that he’d be stuck in this woman’s body until further notice...

Beg to Differ

It wasn’t that long ago when Harold wouldn’t give a second look to dresses in a store, but that was before the Great Shift. Even though numerous scientists had gone on the news to explain that the body swapping phenomenon effected “external appearances only,” Harold felt like it had changed him on the inside as well. Now that he had a woman’s body, things like dresses and makeup were actually interesting to him. He found himself spending hours in a shoe store the other day; before the Shift, the longest he ever spent shopping for shoes was about 15 minutes. Scientists could say the Great Shift didn’t affect the way someone REALLY was on the inside, but Harold would beg to differ! He was now a woman on the outside AND on the inside.

After the Great Shift, Josh was a little worried. He was going to have to adapt to his new female body. He didn’t expect it to be easy. However, after throwing on some feminine clothes and putting on a bit too much makeup, he ventured out into the world for the firs time since the Shift, he didn’t feel awkward at all. In fact, if anything, he felt a strange sense of confidence, more than he ever remembered having before the Shift. Maybe he just wanted to put on a brave face as he adjusted or maybe this new body was something that truly made him happy. He wasn’t sure, but he liked what he was feeling as he walked down the street!

Memories

It had only been about an hour since John visited a website that changed him from male to female. It was a fun time, but he intended to return to the site in order to change back. But he suddenly blanked on the address. He soon realized there were other things he couldn’t remember...like his own name. What was it? Jen? Jen didn’t seem right. He had been a man, after all, until just a little bit ago, and what man is named Jen? He knew he cared about the baseball game on TV tonight, but he couldn’t seem to recall what time it started or what channel it was on. New thoughts seemed to replace these missing ones. He recalled that he needed to go buy makeup, and he instantly knew exactly what shade he needed, for instance.

After a week, Tim returned to the hospital for a few tests and a short interview with the researchers.

“It’s been quite uneventful so far,” He lied to the doctor interviewing him. In reality, he had called up his girlfriend and told her everything. Then they proceeded to sleep together. It was the first time since swapping with Dr. Saito that he actually appreciated being in a woman’s body. And it was also the first time his girlfriend didn’t mind being stuck in the body of Tim’s father either.

When the researchers told Tim he would need to spend a little more time in Dr. Saito’s body in order for them to gather more data, he honestly didn’t mind. He just thought about calling his girlfriend for some more fun...

1950s Look

Eugene didn't much like being stuck in his granddaughter's body after the Great Shift, but he knew there was little he could do to change that. However, he could change the way that she dressed! He always thought that his 20-year old granddaughter had dressed too provocatively. Now in her body, he decided he could cloth her body in a style from his own youth. However, even with the masses shifted, the 1950s look was totally strange.../p>

Not a Minute More

A frustrated Thomas sighed as he put his hand on his hip, pleading with his wife, "You said you wanted to try this weird bodyswapping experiment, which I reluctantly agreed to, but you promised it would only be for an hour. I've been a good sport, letting you keep my body a little longer; I've been in your body now for three hours. Can we please change back now?"

"Just fifteen more minutes," Thomas's wife, Janice, coaxed, “I like being tall!”

Star Quarterback
