Hitchhiker

Lars wasn’t originally going to pull over, but he felt bad for the woman hitchhiker on the side of the road. She just seemed so desperate. Reluctantly, he stopped. The woman approached his car. She was only in her 40s, but the wrinkles on her face were already showing quite deeply. He guessed she was a smoker.

“Thank God!” The woman said, “I’ve been waiting for hours for someone to stop. You’ve got to help me get into town. I need to find my body.”

She could see the confused look on Lars’s face.

“I can explain,” She continued, “A few hours ago I picked up a woman at this very same spot. But when I pulled over, she did something. She switched our bodies...mostly. She had been young when I first saw her, but when we switched I became much older. I think my own body lost a few years before she drove off with it. I was a guy and now I’m a woman! It’s crazy! I know it sounds crazy, but you’ve got to believe me! You’ve got to help me out!”

After Justin graduated law school, he went looking for a job. It proved difficult for him to get a job at any firm. Being fresh out of school, he lacked much experience, but almost everyone didn’t want to bring him on a junior lawyer. They figured he wouldn’t be able to keep up with the demands since he looked so old. The only offer he eventually got was to be a secretary, which felt humiliating yet he accepted it anyway. He thought about going off on to practice on his own, but he’d need to build up some savings first, which was hard as a secretary. Every day at work was just depressing. Heck, every day since he first got this body had just been worse and worse...

“Just look at me,” Justin said while pointing to his face, “I have the body of a 40 year old woman thanks to that accident. By the time I finish getting my law degree, I’ll probably be going through menopause or something. Who’s going to hire me when I’m already over the hill?”

“Relax, honey,” His mom said, “Your brain was transferred into that body to save your life. The doctors gave you all the paperwork to prove who you really are, and that you’re actually 23 years old.”

“Sometimes I wish you had let me die instead.”

“Please don’t talk like that, Justin. It’s horrible. Everyone is glad you survived that terrible accident.”

Justin grumbled as he took another sip of coffee...

After a week, Tim returned to the hospital for a few tests and a short interview with the researchers.

“It’s been quite uneventful so far,” He lied to the doctor interviewing him. In reality, he had called up his girlfriend and told her everything. Then they proceeded to sleep together. It was the first time since swapping with Dr. Saito that he actually appreciated being in a woman’s body. And it was also the first time his girlfriend didn’t mind being stuck in the body of Tim’s father either.

When the researchers told Tim he would need to spend a little more time in Dr. Saito’s body in order for them to gather more data, he honestly didn’t mind. He just thought about calling his girlfriend for some more fun...

For the next few days, Tim tried his best to adjust to being in Dr. Saito’s body. The supervisors in charge of the experiment had given him access to her apartment and a significant spending account. Tim inspected her wardrobe and it mostly matched Dr. Saito’s body -- amazingly unremarkable. It was filled with khaki pants, sweaters, and just mostly boring items. He couldn’t help but think the whole experience of being a woman might be a little more thrilling if he swapped with someone who was a little more interesting. As he took a short walk to clear his head, he thought about going to the mall to spice up his look. Then he thought about calling his girlfriend to tell him what he had undergone for her. He had given up everything to try to help her with her own problem. The doctors had told him not to contact anyone, but what harm would it do? After all, he already knew his girlfriend had swapped bodies with his father; how would it be any different if she knew he had swapped bodies with Dr. Saito?

The Transplant (Part 1)

The past 24 hours had been absolutely crazy. Tim and his family had gotten in a car crash, and in order to save the lives of his dad and his girlfriend, the doctors had to perform an experimental procedure that switched their bodies. Then the doctors approached him about undergoing the procedure with one of their colleagues in order to gather more data on uninjured brains in hopes it would help them reverse the swap between Tim’s dad and girlfriend. The thought of helping his girlfriend out of a horrible situation caused Tim to agree immediately. And within a few hours, he was now inside the body of Doctor Ayumi Saito, a 40 year old Asian woman. As he stepped out into the hallway, he was really regretting this decision. He was 20 years older and a woman! And the timeline was fairly open ended -- supposedly until they got enough “data.” He just told himself that helping his girlfriend and his father would make this all worth it in the end...

Overprotective Mother

When I proposed to my girlfriend, her mother seemed mad. She told me I wasn’t good enough for her daughter and that she’d personally see to it that we would never be married. My girlfriend told me to not take it too seriously; these were just the types of things her mother said. Though the constant threats continued throughout our engagement. I tried to follow my fiancée’s advice and shrug it off, but it was difficult to do so.

Other than her mother’s belittling of me, things were going well, but I never could’ve expected what would happen next. I woke up on the morning of my wedding with the shock of my life -- I had woken up in body of my fiancée’s mother! I was in the body of a 50-something year old chinese woman! I tried not to panic. I put on her dress, which was more difficult and uncomfortable than I imagined, and made my way to the ceremony. I tried to think of what I could say to my bride-to-be to convince her of the truth. That would make her think I was really me and not her mom trying to up with a wild excuse to call of the wedding or just seeming absolutely crazy. When I realized I couldn’t, I just remained silent. Maybe we’d swap back later and this nightmare will be over. However, this seemed much less likely after later in the ceremony when my former body pulled me aside and told me, “I told you that you would never marry her. I will look after my daughter forever, no matter what it takes. Even if that means I am now you for good.”

Dance Class

When Mason was little, he always used to ask his mom to sign him up for ballet class. She would always refuse, telling him that ballet wasn’t for boys. Even through high school, he would ask and she would say no. When he finally went off to college, he had mostly forgotten about it as he focused on his studies.

But on winter break when he returned home, the Great Shift struck. Suddenly Mason was now inside the body of his own mother. He recalled asking about ballet class, and he now insisted, since he was technically female now.

As so he showed up to the first class in his mom’s body with a tutu. He paid attention to the teacher and was ready to try things out. Of course, his mom’s body was nearly 50 years old, so it didn’t move quite like a youthful ballerina might, but he was still damned determined to make it work. He had dreamed of this for 20 years!

Principal's Office

Principal Harris was a little disappointed to see Jeff in the office again. With a stern look, Principal Harris lectured Jeff, “This is the third time you’ve been sent to my office since the break ended, young man. You used to be such a good student, whats’ gotten in to you?”

Jeff leaned over and paused before speaking up, “That’s the thing, isn’t it? I’m not exactly a ‘young man’ anymore, am I? The Great Shift swapped just about all my other classmates with other students, but I get stuck in Mrs. Bell’s body. I’m a forty year old woman now! I have to wear my mom’s clothes! Yet I still get treated like an eighteen year old kid. I had plans to go to college and med school, but by the time I would complete my residency, I’d be close to sixty. So what’s the point? Why am I bothering with any of this?”

After explaining, Jeff just sulked, not wanting to hear any sort of excuse of explanation Principal Harris could come back with...

Holiday Shopping

Alex was itching to figure out what his mom was going to surprise him with this Christmas. She always bought him some big gift not on his list, and it was always really impressive. He had always tried to figure out what it was in advance, but she was very good at keeping a secret. This year, he had a rather elaborate plan for finding out. Any time his mom said she was going out, he would go upstairs and log on to his computer. He loaded the odd program that he had found on the internet. After loading in a photo of one of his mom’s friends, he clicked on the “activate” button. In an instant, the program would turn his body into a spirit that would immediately fly across town to possess his mom’s friend. He was actually getting a little tired of hanging out with his mom -- getting coffee, going grocery shopping, and so on. However, today they were all going to the mall. He smiled, thinking this was the perfect opportunity for her to buy his gift. Of course, instead it seemed like a shopping trip for her. They bought women’s clothes and household items, nothing that seemed like a gift. Alex sighed as he tried to continue to pretend to enjoy himself.

After Gene got an F on his latest essay, he was furious. He felt like he didn’t deserve such a poor grade and set his sights on getting revenge on his teacher, Miss Gray. He wanted to get her fired, and he had the perfect scheme. He searched the internet all night before finding what he needed, a body swap spell. He cast it that night and woke up the next morning in Miss Gray’s body. He searched through her closet for the sluttiest outfit he could find. He felt so naked and exposed, but when he showed up to school in Miss Gray’s body wearing this, he was sure it would get her fired. Then again, he didn’t count on the strength of the teachers’ union.

Super Old and Gross

How to Get Ahead in Business

Justin had just started interning last week, and suddenly he found himself CEO of the company. Or, more accurately, he found himself inside the CEO’s body. It was all thanks to a strange device being tested to rejuvenate a person’s youth. Not that CEO Melissa Johnson needed it -- she looked great for her age -- but she still insisted on testing it in front of the entire company. Justin hadn’t been an intended target; he was just in the room at the time. Everyone pledged to keep the swap a secret. If anything leaked, it would be sure to spook many of the investors. As a result, Justin had to keep up appearances as Ms. Johnson, which meant a lot of public appearances. However, behind the scenes, he got to relax while she continued to make all of the important decisions. He hoped they were able to reverse this swap soon.

Big Gamble

Ed was thankful that his luck was finally starting to turn around again. After gambling away all his money, he begged for a way to earn it back. A woman offered him a deal. If he would switch bodies with her, she would give him a million dollars. Thinking body swapping was fiction, Ed quickly agreed; however, he was shocked when he found himself becoming the middle aged Asian woman. It got worse when he lost much of the million dollars. But he was finally starting hitting an upswing. He was still far from what he needed to buy his own body back, but he was sure he was going to get there. Of course, once he did get enough, he’d be truly surprised by the woman refusing to swap back with him, leaving him stuck in her body...

Aaron could hardly believe he would be starting his first day at college in a month! He had thought his dreams of furthering his education were crushed after the Great Shift took his 18-year-old body from him, and swapped him into a 30-year-old black woman. Sure, he had still had decent grades, but he no longer had the body that helped him earn a scholarship for swimming, which meant he couldn't afford school anymore. Luckily, the government and various universities were sympathetic to the swapped. Many set up special assistance programs for people in positions like Aaron. Sure, he may have had to attend his safety school, but he was still at college!

Too Much Power

Zach was indeed proud of his new invention, a bodyswapping machine. He asked his wife to try it out with him, and it was an instant success. The two swapped bodies, but the machine started sparking. Zach made a few tweaks to the invention before the switch back. A few screw twists and knob turns later and they were ready to go back to being themselves. However, this time when they turned the machine on, more sparks flew, and it blew out the power on the entire block. When Zach came to, he was in the body of their attractive neighbor, a model, who was on her way to a party. His wife was in the body of a young neighborhood boy, who the other children often referred to as a bully. It seemed like everyone on the block was now someone else, and the finger was pointed straight at Zach to fix the mess. Unfortunately, the power surge had destroyed several circuits. Zach went to his garage and proceeded to try and make the fixes as fast as possible as a very impatient crowd looked on. The model insisted that if things weren't corrected in the next hour, he would have to go to the party in his place. Of course, she didn't seem all too threatening from the body of a 70 year old man.

Maybe Not an Accident

“Dude, why does Matt’s mom come to every practice and sit in the bleachers?” Alex asked another student on the football team before waving out to her, “Hey, Mrs. Lee.”

Matt uncomfortably waved back before dropping his hands awkwardly between his legs. It was still unbelievably weird to him how he had swapped bodies with his friend’s mom. He was pretty sure that she was going to ruin his life, so he tried his best to keep an eye on her when he could -- that included watching her at football practice. What may have been even weirder was that she seemed to be doing well; not just in terms of playing football, but also just being a social eighteen year old man. He was wondering if maybe it was all planned. Maybe she had actually wanted his life; maybe the swap wasn’t an accident...
